Chainstay Protector

I don't have any bike inner tubes to make a chainstay protector. What else do you use for this?

Thanks

I just recently made one from part of a pop can. The problem on my bike isn't so much chain slap, it's a stay that runs very close to the chain, so there's a lot of rubbing as the chain moves around. I glued mine on with an automotive emblem adhesive, but a strong rubber cement like Shoe Goo or Goop would work, too.

NOS '70s Schwinn road bike plastic handlebar tape.

IKEA "knobby" plastic shelf liner.

Take a hacksaw and carefully cut the driveside chainstay clean out of the frame. Hide it in your sock drawer. The chain will not be able to hurt it there.

Mine came with a nifty velcro cover. Its beat to death but still hanging on. I found this website with Lizardskin protectors. Probably not any differant than the tapes mentioned above.

An old inner tube works well for this.

I've got one of the regular Lizard Skins velcro attaching kind. Seems to work well. It's stayed in place with no trouble and my chain stay is still free of paint chipping.

Same here, just be sure to get the right size (width). Had to take the first one I bought back cause it wouldn't wrap around the stay. But the large fits perfectly. Not an expensive item.

Carbon Fiber Bicycle Chainstay Protector + 2 Frame Patches - Matte / Dry Black

I needed the tape/decal/sticker style chainstay protector for two road bikes. I searched online and found the Lizard Skins leather carbon-look one but decided it was too thick. I found some decals, branded and generic, but they were all something like $8 plus another $5-7 in shipping. C'mon, $13-$15 (or more!) for stickers?!?

I decided to import my own and sell them, too.
