cannondale f400

hello so i just bought a 1997-2000 cannondale f400 CAD2 off of craigslist today for $40 bucks. i was looking for a decent, under $100 bike to fix up and ride so i can learn the process of fixing bikes. so one of the rim spokes is broken, tubes are no good, it has alot of dust and spiderwebs on it but other than that its in pretty good shape, seems like he didnt ride it much. so my question is how did i do for $40? i know nothing about mountain bikes, i am a hybrid rider and so i never looked into mountain bikes at all. the frame looks pretty solid and its made in USA so im pretty sure he did not know what he had when he sold it to me. so is this a pretty good bike? will it hold up pretty well on trails (ive always wanted to do trails but my hybrid wouldnt like that too much) like i said i dont know anything about mountain bikes or cannondale. ill also post pictures up if you guys would like that

thanks for reading!

I bought one of these new in 96 or 97. It was toward the lower end of Cannondale's lineup. If all it needs is tubes and a spoke, and it's your size, you did great. Even if it isn't your size, it's a great bike and you can clean it up and flip it for a decent profit that you can put toward one that is your size. I sold mine this past summer for US$350 but mine had a few upgraded components and some extras (zoom bar ends, cannondale saddle bag, etc). And yes, everyone here loves pictures, the more the better.
