Colorado Trail Warning

Hello everyone, I mt biked in the Fruita/GJ area this weekend. The trails are in summer condition, VERY DRY. As you know, CO passed a recreational marijuana law. If you have a smoke on the trail be sure your coals are put out completely. It won't take very many roach induced fires before the backcountry is closed. Have fun and be careful out there!!

Congrats on biking the Fuita area. We used to have a regular poster from there. Miss ole Pablo. I never smoke anywhere but the Hot tub, and then its usually something from the humidor. but that is solid advice.

I am fortunate to live near there. The choices were; ski on mashed potatoes and ice (Vail area) in the rain or bike in cool sunshine. The choice was obvious. I got there early but by the time I was leaving the parking lot at the trailhead was full. I fear a very dry season.

don't forget though it's still against Federal law and if you are in a National Park you could get into big trouble.

A very good point that I did not consider.

Fruita isn't a "National Park" and when you get arrested on Federal Lands you don't go straight to federal court, the local authorities will take you into custody i.e. County Sheriff or local PD and they are not going to prosecute you for MJ possession (if < 1 oz). Now if you're growing on the Feds land that is another story but don't think tokin' a J on Federal Land is going to result in you going to Leavenworth.

IF this year is as dry as last year, ANY open flames are going to result in a hefty fine. My property abuts to the Arapaho N.F. and the only type of "fire" you can have outdoors is a propane grill or camp stove during the burn restrictions.

I dunno whut that Marrywanna Iz but If'in you bring it over here I'll drink It !!!

I don't need chemicals to get a buzz.

What are some of the immediate effects of smoking marijuana?

Some immediate physical effects of marijuana include a faster heartbeat and pulse rate, bloodshot eyes, and a dry mouth and throat. No scientific evidence indicates that marijuana improves hearing, eyesight, and skin sensitivity. Studies of marijuana's mental effects show that the drug can impair or reduce short-term memory, alter sense of time, and reduce ability to do things which require concentration, swift reactions, and coordination, such as RIDING A MOUNTAIN BIKE !

What about psychological dependence on marijuana?
Long-term regular users of marijuana may become psychologically dependent. They may have a hard time limiting their use, they may need more of the drug to get the same effect, and they may develop problems with their jobs and personal relationships. The drug can become the most important aspect of their lives.

Dependent, means one day will need Government assistance,,,,,,,,

Dang....I hadn't realized. Where did Pablo go? Is he still at the shop, or did he leave the area? And yes, it is a wonderful place to live/ride. I lived right off of 18 road for nearly 7 years myself.

I started riding Mountain Bikes in Farmington, NM. Summer treats were riding anywhere on the western slope. I'm gonna PM Pablo and see if he pops up.

Bikes: Bike list is not a resume. Nobody cares.

^^ He's still on the list of staff at OTE. I think he just got bored with us.

There was an argument over...something or other. Pablo said he was done posting, and unlike 99% of people who make that threat, he actually disappeared. Shame too, I thought he brought a lot to the forum.

I can't imagine it would be that hard. There are a million energy bar recipes online, so all you'd need to do is find one that includes oil or butter or some type of fat, and then use cannabutter or oil, same as you would with brownies or cookies. No weed for me though, so I don't have an actual recipe. And uh...seeing as we shouldn't be discussing illegal drug use here anyhow, this post was only intended for those of you in CO, WA, or some country where pot is legal. Drugs mess with the reward centers of your brains, kids.

My state is turning into a worse damn hippie commune than Oregon . . . as if anyone thought that could be possible. WTF.

Bikes: A fat tire & a skinny tire & two others I loaned out

Pot smokers, save your lungs: vaporize or eat. Use your judgement to determine how much you can handle on the trail & never try a new method of intake before doing something like MTBing.

I was wondering what happened to Pablo. His bi-weekly drunken rants were one of the highlights of the non-stickies.
