New Scalpel!/29er tires question

Just got a new 2013 Scalpel 29er. Absolutley love it. So far we haven't had a typical wet northwest winter yet so the stock tires are working OK so far. Still playing with tire pressure/etc but I can see where the stock Scwalbe Ralphs probably won't cut it went it gets sloppy out here. Any 29 recommendations that don't break the bank? Seems like most 29 tires are big bucks!

I'm running Bontrager Jones regular not even TLR's. Last year I did a 3 day Marathon XC, first day was pouring, and running them tubeless at about 28lbs (I'm 190#) they keept me connected. I did end up burping them and going flat over some rip rap, but the flat happened overnight.
The course had us going through loam, clay, gravel and it all worked out.

The Jones series are good tires, but hard to find on sale. Kenda Nevegals or Maxxis Exception Series work good out here in the desert.
