West side ride reco's
Ok, I'm up in N. Golden and would like to train for an upcoming Tri. I am looking for a flat/rolling 15-20 mile loop/out and back that I can hang in my aero bars for most of the ride (i.e. few stops, sharp turns, excessive climbing). Ideas? Lakewood? Arvada?
Thank you!
Thank you!

I wouldn't think golden would have many flat and rolling rides. Wonder why?
The platte trail is fairly flat but has underpasses and places you would need to get out of the aero bars.
Maybe somewhere closer to Kansas?
The only ride I have ridden lately that would fit the bill would be taking the I-25 frontage road from 160th ave to johnstown. Boring! Still it is flat / rolling. I sat in my drops for the 70 mile ride to Greeley and averaged 19 mph.
One could always find a place like Washington park and do laps.

Isn't 93 fairly high traffic with narrow shoulders?
Maybe i am thinking of a different highway.
Washington park does have a speedlimit. Not that anyone observes it. If the joggers are out one can always put up with the traffic for the.... uh ....scenery.

From Golden take 44th out the Easley. Easley north to 64th and turn right on 64th to Quaker. Take Quaker north to Leyden Road. Leyden Road west to CO 93 (This part of 93 has wider shoulders). CO93 back to 58th then left back to Easley. Mostly flat to rolling. CO93 rolls more than the other roads. I'd do a routeslip but it's being difficult this morning.

Thanks Cycco, you always have good ideas. I do 58, 64, Easley, 44th, 32nd quite a bit, was hoping there was something missing. I haven't gone north on 93 past 64th, I will have to check out your suggested loop.
93 by itself does scare me in sections.
36 to Estes sounds like fun, just would take me over an hour to get to 36, Boulder has a lot of great rides that would fit the bill, Cherryvale, Baseline and such but I was hoping to go out from my house.
Riding in the aerobars on the bike paths = disaster wiating to happen, too many obstacles, turns, peds, kids, etc.
Any Lakewood ideas? Does Morrison road have good shoulders? I know it does from 470 up to the park entrance but I have always gotten onto the bike path from there.

If the trail is safe or not. It appears my quote did not take. Not good at reading minds?
The north platte is usually wide open and empty all week long and a good portion of the weekend.
Of course, then there are the idiots who take aero bars on the cherry creek through downtown.

Another place to do timetrials is at Cherry Creek Res. (they have weekly ones there).
