Our route will probably be north from midtown east, around Inwood and back down to Dinosaur where we'll replenish our electrolytes with bbq sauce coated meats. The pace is leisurely so we can yak it up. I'll prob. be on a FG, Air will be on some ugly iron beast and noteon will be on a bike built in this century.

Air 04-16-09 02:06 PM

Pace is easy - non of us are hammerheads. PM sent for meeting info - hope you get a boost!

Mine's from the future.

KitN 04-16-09 02:44 PM

You guys a cool and funny! I'm sure I'll have a blast. :)

I just ate some lunch: Chicken Ceasar Salad with Feta cheese on top. I hope I'll have enough strength to keep up with you gentlemen. :D

Air 04-16-09 02:48 PM

If all else fails - I'll bring the bungee cords ;)

noteon 04-16-09 02:54 PM

If there are gentlemen coming, I'm out.

KitN 04-16-09 02:55 PM

Ha ha! Hopefully it won't come to that, Air, but you never know. ;)

Do you guys lock your bike up by outside of Dinosaur barbecue? I have a Krypto Evo Mini and a 4' Kryptoflex cable. I hate the extra weight but I can bring it if you guys don't have a lock. (I'll try my best to bring my folder inside. Do you think they'd mind my bike folded inside?)

noteon 04-16-09 02:57 PM

So is 6:45 at Air's the plan?

jyossarian 04-16-09 02:57 PM

I may take the mtb so I can coast after eating my bike's weight in brisket. See y'all around 6:45ish. Mattyhenristeve where you at?

edit: I'll have a chain w/ me. We can lock our bikes together to make them harder to steal.

KitN 04-16-09 03:31 PM

OK, it doesn't look like I will be able to take a nap. I'll just take a hot bath and head out. Pray for me...

Air 04-16-09 03:35 PM

We usually get a table outside so no worries about locking - first come first serve and no one gets in front of me and beef ;) Plus that new pier is open, could always take it to go and eat on the water.

Mattyhenristeve can't make it (contacted them directly) :( Hopefully at some point we'll get them out!

jyossarian 04-16-09 09:54 PM

<burp> Good ride guys! Glad to meet you KitN!

dendawg 04-16-09 09:58 PM

Let me know if your going to the dinosaur on a monday or tuesday night!. FWIW Oneal's at the 79th St Boat Basin is also open again. They've let me bring my bike in when it wasn't crowded, though the ride home after the margaritas was a tough one! ;)

jyossarian 04-16-09 10:13 PM

When we passed by O'Neal's, it wasn't open, but it was also almost 11 pm. As the weather gets warmer, our outdoor options will only grow. WFC, Chelsea Piers, the boat basin, etc.

noteon 04-16-09 10:40 PM

I'll be more verbose when my Internet service is back up and I'm not typing on my cell phone, but nice ride, if a little cold, and KitN, it was lovely to meet you.

Air 04-16-09 11:02 PM

Fun ride!! I swear my body works differently than most - that brisket gave me such a burst of energy that I was hammering all around lower Manhattan, didn't drop much below 18 except when I had to.

Great meeting you Kit!

KitN 04-16-09 11:18 PM

Air, Noteon and Jyossarian: It was great meeting you all. You were all very nice to me and I do appreciate it. I had such a fun time and can't wait to do it again. :)

I'm finally headed to bed. I'm praying I'll actually get more than 3 hours of sleep this time...

There's also a good Italian restaurant with an outdoor cafe at the north end of 12th Ave, Trattoria del Covo I think its called. Stopped there a couple of times with the bikes.

I would have loved to have meet you. Next time. :)

BTW, it got very chilly and windy quickly. At one point, I have to admit, it was downright cold. (Thanks for the jacket, Air!)

so cool - you did it on your folder, noteon?

did you guys wind up sitting outside? I waited for a sandwich outside a deli around 9 PM last night and it did indeed start to get a bit nippy.

btw, I know I mentioned here earlier but wild horses shan't keep me from the CP Moonlight ride on May 1st - we are trying to get a good feeder ride coming in from Queens. Hope you guys will be there!

Air 04-17-09 10:44 AM

Yeah, there was an hour and a half wait.
