Does anybody know if you can ride up Bear Mountain in the winter? Is Perkins Drive closed for a certain time during the winter? Would appreciate any info. Thanks!!

I think you could find a more definitive answer if you did a search...

I tried to ride up to the top of Bear Mtn a year or two ago at this time and perkins was indeed closed. I thought about just going around the gate, but the road was covered in pebbles and rocks from the weather so I just turned around. 7 lakes drive was open though.

Perkins Dr is closed during the winter months. Icing on roadway from snow melt.

You can walk around the gate. As stated you may have snow to deal with.
As a general rule the top of Bear Mt may be 5 degrees colder than NYC, so always worry about snow and black ice and
fenders make sense.
