Long Island/Nassau County Article

Posted on Patch.com, August 10th, 2013:

‘Complete Streets’ Program Approved

The county legislature earlier this week approved County Executive Mangano’s “Complete Streets” program, created to ensure that the county will consider all users of roadways, pedestrians, bicyclists and transit riders in the planning and design of new and current roadways.

The design principles include paved shoulders and bicycle lanes suitable to encourage bicycle riders. Other designs would improve sidewalks, signage, crosswalks, pedestrian signalization and traffic calming methods designed to allow pedestrian and motor vehicles to safely coexist.
