Livermore - Cyclist Death

This is very sad. Apparently this took place on Flynn Road, near Patterson Pass Rd.

Edit: The rider was named, Sina Noori, a member of the Valley Spokesmen and was on a VS ride descending Flynn Road. For those of you who know Flynn, this happened at the off-camber before hitting the switchbacks. I'm pretty sure I know the spot. It's exactly where they typically put hay bales during the Wente Road races. I've never had a problem in that spot riding a bike, but I have almost bitten the dust on a motorcycle, there, before.

Be careful out there!

I am so saddened to hear this. I rode with Sina once back in November, and while I didn't know her well I was struck by her kindness and personality. I am very sad that I'll never have an opportunity to ride with her again.

Friend of mine rode by and saw the coroner's car.

I didn't know Sina, but a mutual friend is collecting photos for a tribute if you have any.

Tragic.

Sina... all the local news was saying Mina. Yeah that turn can be something else at speed. Really a shame. RIP

Hello everyone, I am a friend of Sina's from Atlanta. Her real name is Mina. Sina was her nickname given to her by her father. She was loved by everyone in the cycling/triathlon community here in north Atlanta and we are devastated by her loss. She loved living in the SanFrancisco area and made so many new friends. Thank you for embracing her and for making her feel welcome. She was so happy and we here in Atlanta are finding comfort in knowing that her last days were spent in a place she loved and with people she loved. If anyone on here can give an account of what happened, please do. We are desperate for information as we are all heart broken.

Jennyjam:

I did not know Mina and I cannot give you any insight as to what happened. What I can tell you based on 40+years of familiarity with that road and the description of where the accident happened is that her last minutes before the crash were spent on one of the truly wonderful roads to ride a bike. She had wrestled her way up a significant climb, had pedaled through a beautiful area on a more gentle climb, and had started down the descent with a lovely view towards the Livermore Valley, likely with little or no car traffic. I can only hope there is some small solace in knowing that her last bit of time on Earth was spent doing what she enjoyed in a great place to do it.

Tailwinds to you and to Mina.

Bikingshearer and Scarbo, Thank you SO much for telling me about her experience. It is comforting to know she was in such a beautiful place surrounded by wonderful caring people. I will share your message and pictures with her Atlanta friends and we rejoice that she died doing what she loved. She is a stage 4 cancer survivor. She made a video on You Tube called "Sina's Journey" when she graduated from chemo in 2012. The forum won't let me post it, but you can search for it. She also was 1/2 mile from the finish line when the Boston Marathon bombing occurred. Her husband was in the grandstands and saw the bomb. She was interviewed on the BBC. Please think of her when you ride that beautiful road, and thank you again for your kind response.

I'd like to watch but I can't find it. Can you paste something more descriptive? Maybe break up the URL into two lines so it doesn't get stripped.

That was something, thanks.
Someone who knew her well should maybe put up a notice in the comment section... currently blank.

Peace and healing, Jenny.

Services are being held Friday @ 11:00, Valley Community Church on DelValle Pkwy in Ptown. @Jenny Her family is going to have services there in about a month. I consider myself fortunate to have spent time with her both on and off the bike and as you must know. She was one of the few on this planet that touched the life of everyone she crossed paths with.
