No ride today. I took the pooch out for a nice hike in the green grassy hills of Las Trampas, so he could get his jollies running after ground squirrels.

On Friday (hey, every day is a weekend!) I did an OLH (up and down) - 84 - Pescadero - Stage - 1 - Tunitas - Kings thing. It was an excellent day for a ride.
I wore myself out a little bit on the last section of Tunitas, because after the steep part, it always feels like the end is just around the corner, so I pushed it a bit.
Speaking of Tunitas, I finally got to see the Bike Hut. I was kind of expecting a rickety shack with a water tap and a few bowls of treats, but it's really nice! I didn't even take anything other than some water from the tap outside, but I still dropped some cash in the drawer. Bravo to the Potrero Nuevo folks for setting it up, and I hope they continue.

Jen and I did a great 30-mile loop on the tandem. Just your typical peninsula ride up foothill, sand hill to portola, back down alpine and arastradero. Super nice weather and tons of friendly bikers out -- we saw a couple w/ guy in rear wearing old-school (blue and yellow) Nor-Cal BF kit headed north on Portola Valley Road as we were stopped on the southbound side. Who was it??

I'm trying to sneak in as many miles possible leading up to Devil Mountain. Today I rode from Davis to Benicia. I went the long way to get as many hills as possible. Got picked up in Benicia, changed, and went to my niece's 1st B-Day party in Concord. 70 miles in about 3:45. Nice little sunburn to go with it.

Saturday we left Livermore at 8:00am for a Diablo/Morgan Territory ride. No wind, lot's of wild flowers blooming, a bob cat sighting and ton's of grins.. Forgot to use the sun block and got an early season burn.
79.7 miles of fun.

Rode Up Mount Hamilton from the Livermore side on my own. It was cold and I had an absolutely horrendous headwind all the way home. Got my century in for March though.

Saturday was a TnT ride out at Pt. Reyes. Not much wind at all for this time of year. 71 miles, about 7100 feet of climbing.
Sunday (today) we went down past Hollister to ride Panoche Pass. Pretty spectacular, about 55 miles and 3200 feet of climbing.

Saturday: Redwood>Pinehurst loop and threw in Snake for a bit of extra up. 42 miles and 5000+ vert. What an amazing day to ride.
Sunday: Berkeley>Redwood>Palomares and back via Pinehurst. 71 miles and 7200 vert. Really nice riding weather once again. Katy and I did this in the afternoon so we could watch some hoops first. Got back just before dark.
Good riding weekend!

Saturday I cruised around Granite Bay with some friends. Just a 15 mile dirt ride. Sunday was a 30 mile ride in Auburn - we started at the confluence, went up stagecoach, down manzanita, up flood to mossy rock, mossy rock, fuel break, connector, divide loop and then back the way we came. 30 miles, 4200ft of climbing.

Saturday was the north bay ride, great fun as always. Sunday I took the steel bike over to Portola Valley. Tied my best time up OLH, 22:30. I saw a Yellow/Black Nor Cal jersey on the way up. It was Jim on his Red Trek, who I had not seen since I think the Dec 2007 Mt. Hamilton ride. Another young rider had just reached the top when I got there. He was stoked as it was his first time up on a new bike. A student from Stanford originally from DC where there are no hills. I saw him again on the 84 descent that was clogged with traffic.

Saturday we left the house around 4pm to camp out in Samuel P. Taylor. Of course, by this time of day the winds had picked up, so we were fighting a headwind most of the way. The climb past Fairfax on Sir Francis Drake was especially windy, which made for a nice mental game. Coming back on Sunday was nice, rode the hottest part of the day, actually got sunburned. This was the first good ride I have had in a couple of months due to sickness, weather and such. It felt good to be back on the bike!

I'm only 20 minutes off my climb time from before my knees starting giving me trouble!
I have some work to do.

Livermore to Hamilton. Not as much wildflowers as I thought there would have been.
On the way back, I enjoyed a nice grilled ham sammich at the Junction Cafe (was packed w/ the usual assortments of locals). Good times. Got in my 1st century of the year and over 200 miles for the week!
Woo hoo!

70 mile TnT team ride w/ 6,000 feet of climbing. Started in Pinole, went up McEwen, the Pig Farm, then the 3 Bears, then Pinehurst, then Grizzly Peak. No one killer climb, but they all kind of added up as the day went along.

Where is McEwen? Never climbed that before, even though I'm local-ish. That ride sounds like it'll put the burn in your quads. That last incline up GP must have been fun!

Hmm, the link just pulls up a map of the US. Can you be just a wee bit more specific?

Right 'ere. Coming down Carquinez, you'll take a sharp right onto McEwen. Well, sharp right and sharp up.
