Yesterday I bought a skewer to use with the trainer. Exciting, eh?

Today I finally found some women's full fingered gloves in my size (and yes, I even looked at men's but nobody ever had men's small enough).

Also bought a block for my trainer, a Levi's GranFondo jersey because I didn't jump on the chance the first time around, and 2 LGF Camelback water bottles at the discounted price.

The amount of money I was going to spend on cycling related things this month - $0
The amount of money actually spent on cycling related things this month - probably about $300

This is an expensive addiction, isn't it?

I bought a new helmet, the Lazer Genesis:

It's replacing the LAS Squalo that was damaged in a wreck, which I then left on Caltrain by accident.

I just got those from performance bike. They were on sale:
Shimano ultegra pedals. They would be my first clipless pedals for my new road bike. Seemed like good bang for the buck (especially for a beginner like myself).

Shimano sh-086l road shoes (really wanted Sidi's but these were significantly cheaper)

Kool Kovers

The Fair Oaks Performance matched the 20% off online sale yesterday, so I got a new head cover to protect my bald head:

And another Vittora Rubino Pro Slick (their 150tpi tire) for my rear end.

WOW! So did the fitting bring about the custom Speedplays, stem, bars, and wedges?
How far off was your original position?

Yes to all.
After 13,000 miles, 20 Centuries and 1 Double Century I figured it was about time to really get the bike dialed before I take a shot at The Triple Crown.

Wade works with a lot of pros and now I have a super fit tailored for endurance riding and my anatomy.

Very interesting! How do the asymmetrical length spindles come about? Rather, what are the "quirks" that necessitate that? Also, in general, what was your fit like before this? Were you too forward, low, etc.?

If you don't mind, was it very pricey?

I have a left knee that was surgically rebuilt 30 years ago and now has no cartilage plus arthritis. ( My doc says cycling is fine though)
My lower leg on that side is not straight down from the knee like the right one is. The bad one on the left has a 20 degree outward bend below the knee.
This has gotten a lot worse over the last year and a half.
The weird 20 degree angle of the left lower leg began creating leverage that was causing the upper thigh and knee to hit the top tube.
I had to concentrate on every stroke to hold my left hip open a bit so I would not hit the frame.

Wade said he had never seen anyone need so much work from the saddle down to fit them. Lucky me.
He said I didn’t realize it but I was even sitting crooked on the saddle to compensate.

He added a full 1 ¼ to the spindle on the left side and a ½ to the spindle on the right.

The fitting was about $400 for bike and shoe, full package (not including parts).
Super worth it Wade Hall is considered one of the best in the country.
I heard about him here on the forum, which is cool.
He spent over an hour asking me questions, taking measurements, manipulating me for range of motion assessment, watching me do stretches.
Once he had a thorough understanding of the way my body worked, only then, did he have me through a leg over my bike to see how my existing fit worked with my body.

After we got the lower leg dialed in, he also showed me how I needed a longer stem so I could get back on my sit bones more naturally and bars with a different reach in the drops to keep me there.

For the tandem: A pair of 28mm Conti Ultra Gator ($25 a piece at Wiggle.uk, free shipping) and a SRAM 9 speed chain. Last month I got a pair of Mavic rims/Shimano hubs wheels with an Arai drum brake, new salmon Kool-Stop pads, and Shimano 9 speed cassette and bar end shifters. I should be ready to upgrade the tandem from 7 to 9 speeds when the stuff arrive. I will need to stretch the rear spacing from 140 to 145mm, shouldn't be a problem with a steel frame.

For the road bike: A pair of fenders from England, the Crud RoadRacers ($35 at Wiggle.uk, free shipping). Cool design and great reviews from RBR Newsletter.

Great set of fenders. I got to use them for 46 miles and while they didn't keep the downpour from soaking me, they helped the person on my wheel a bit. Certainly better then being behind someone without fenders. I think I'll rig up a way to extend the rear mudflap even further than they do now.

SaWEET! bike! the rear fender though ... uh uh. It's obviously saving your butt from getting wet but mine also keep my front derailer clean and the rear does come down lower as well. If I were you though I would cover the area in front for the derailer before extending the rear. if it's just that's one thing but I find the water also piles up gunk on the derailer something feirce
