Heavy Metal Ride, any Interest?
Had a great ride today with RedRider and we got to talkin (always dangerous). Anyway, here's the deal. I have a custom steel frameset on order. And I know a bunch of you also prefer steel. When that bike gets in and is built, I think it would be fun to have a metal bike day. Bring out your steel, aluminum, or Ti bikes (ok, CF will be alright, but ONLY if you don't have a metal one) and join us for a ride.
EDIT: I found out this morning it's going to paint today (Monday)!
RedRider thought that today's route would make a good one. It's got a good mix of climbing and descending. Along with some absolutely outstanding scenery. It's not an easy route, but we'll make a day of it so the pace is irrelevant. We'll regroup often, no one gets dropped.
And as a bonus, post ride everyone can come back to my place and I'll fire up the grill for some cheeseburgers, brauts, and whatever else you want. You're even welcome to use our shower if you would like. Of course, you'll have to put up with the exuberant dogs (a labrador and an english mastiff) and our kids. Bring your own beer.
The route from my place is 85mi, or you can opt for the shorter 53mi version from Folsom Bike. Here's a map of the ride from Folsom Bike. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/1806891
So what do ya'll think? At the moment, the date is open as I don't know when my bike will be done. Probably another 4 to 6 weeks.

I ride nothing but steel frames, and I weigh a lot, so all my rides are "heavy metal" rides.
Sounds like the ride will be fun, so count me as a "firm maybe," depending on too mamny variables to list here.

My steel frameset is due to arrive in 2 weeks. It left the factory today and has one stop to make en-route for something. When it gets here, I'll schedule this ride.

I am in, providing the eventual date does not conflict with anything on the home front.
It will be nice to get my back up bike, a steel Univega, out for some miles.
