Chiwawa River Road (pics)
A few years ago I spent a night at Spider Meadow, several miles up the trail at the end of Chiwawa River Road. The hike was lovely, and a lot of the road in was pretty, too. It's been on my list for a while, and I finally rode it yesterday.
Well, most of it - I got a late start, the road was slow going, and I had to turn around about a mile shy of the end.
The first 10 miles are decent pavement, then the road is sandy gravel for 13 more miles.
The sun set almost an hour before I got back to my car.
This is in the Leavenworth/Plain area. There's a pullout with ample parking at the end of the road.

Always enjoy your pics!
I got to give you props. I'll see you posting bicycle shots in places that, the last time I was there, was in a 4x4 with a case of beer, and a .30-06.
I was last in Spider Meadow probably 25 years ago. Beautiful spot.
Keep 'em coming.

It's been a few years since I went to Spider Meadow, too. I remember the hike being really long, finally arriving at the meadow, and getting the last empty camp, then hanging my food to keep the bears away. Also, they have this register you're supposed to sign, and when I arrived my name was already there, the last one in the book. Kind of creeped me out. I had told a friend I was going to backpack there, I thought he and his wife might be pranking me, they swear they weren't.

Seattle Forrest, Like Jasper Storm, I too enjoy your photos and trip accounts. I live in Western Washington but spend significant time in Leavenworth. I'm always interested in learning about new ride opportunities.
