Fircrest WA. I started to bike for the commuting and to lose the office weight, but now it is all I want to do. They need to put warnings of addiction on bikes.

Hello Pacific Northwest.... I am a little slow, I moved back home to the Eugene/Springfield area from Texas last year and just joined the BikeForums after it was recommended to me by a formite in So Cal. Currently, I am on the injured list as I crashed last month and suffered a broken leg.

Hi MailMover--do you work in the Springfield facility for the USPS?

Bummer about the broken leg . Did the bike survive, or are you in the market for a new one?

Welcome to BikeForums!

Yup I work at the Main PO in Springfield (Gateway). The Bike may only need the front wheel trued and the flat fixed. However, I haven't been able to do a full inspection and have the LBS check the Frame (CF) for cracks. I am supposed to stay off the leg until I get a walking cast.... I had just upgraded my Grupo from Campy to SRAM Red and scarred the shifters/brake levers a bit. Now I don't have to worry about scratching them. If the frame is toast, I am going to be in the market for a Ti or steel frame.

Hi everybody. I hail from Enumclaw, WA. I work here in town and ride my bike to and from work. Presently riding a 1988 Schwinn Crosscut/ road hybrid, but I took the cheap way out and bought a Windsor Hour, which will be here this evening.

So hi!

chewelah

i'm in a little town NE Washington called Chewelah, WA not too far from Colville...some beautiful country here and some great biking routes (on major highways however, on cold days its nice to have the warm draft of the logging trucks, but watch out for flying wood chips). Been riding a Raleigh hybrid for some time, but recently bought a Specialized Allez road bike (what a difference!) ...considering upgrading to the Specialized Tarmac next season.

I did the STP this year for the first time and now I think I'm addicted to cycling...I can't seem to ride enough and am going to have to get away during the winter to ride on roads...the trainer just doesn't allow me to get the fix I need.

new to bikeforums...hope I can meet some other riders in my area

Hello from Covington...

I'm in Covington, which is about halfway between Kent and Maple Valley in WA. I've been riding off and on for 20 years, have two and a half bikes, and try to bike commute but freqently fail to drag myself out of bed early enough to do so.

Hey! You didn't happen to come to the utterly ridiculous WWU group ride this last weekend, did you?

Guess I'll post here finally! I'm in Bremerton, Wa. and just got back into cycling last year. I cycle-commute about 6 miles each way to work at Harrison Hospital. I work nights and mostly weekends so I'm riding in at 10:30 at night when all the drunks are out! No problems yet though... I'm lit up like a UFO.
I'm most interested in classic and vintage bikes and I also do some bike flipping on CL in my spare time. Getting ready for my first short tour next week. I usually ride solo, so if anyones looking for a ride partner keep me in mind!

Welcome bicyclejunkie. You do live in nice area. Do you ever ride Flowery Trail to the summit? I've considered doing that ride, if I did it from my home I think it would be around a 100 miles round trip. Not sure I want to put that climb in the middle of the ride

d-

i have done that climb--and it's pretty killer, but coming down is amazing--i've clocked my fastest speed coming down the other side towards Usk (and then Newport). You just missed an organized ride that they do every year up to the summit (it's called Tour de Rock).

I live about 2 miles from the base of Flowery Trail and often start my morning rides seeing how far I can go up the mountain before my legs start to go out (sometimes 3 miles and sometimes less than 1) and then rocket back down.

enjoy the rest of the biking season, I'm riding every day until the snow hits!

Whoah, I think I saw that ride. At any rate, I saw a large group ride that looked utterly ridiculous with some WWU jerseys mized in.

We clogged up one lane for an entire block on the last leg of our ride. It was pretty glorious. We had split up into 4 groups (12 people each) prior, but the last jaunt was to the captain's house, which no one else seemed to know the location of. If you're looking for riding partners, Western's board is really active and people are looking for riding partners pretty much every day of the week. It's over at https://www.wwucycling.com.

Gulp. I just posted a new thread with an intro...then I saw this thread. Oh well. Just another well-meaning, dumb*ss newbie!

Burien, Washington. About 3 miles straight west of SeaTac Airport, just off Puget Sound. Lots and lots of hills. It's either hills or traffic here!

Tacompton.......Ah the aroma of Tacoma! When I finally muster up the guts to sign on the dotted line (I'm huntin' to buy a house. Scary!) I'll most likely end up back in 'Da Hood.....I'll just stay away from 23rd and K though.......Well it's MLK now.
