Birch Bay WA, 5 miles south of Canada.
Mostly commuting on my good ol' 2001 kona cindercone. Only 3ish miles each way. And some weekend rides. Looking forward to getting a proper road bike when the time and funds will allow.

Seattle, WA Queen Anne neighborhood, hills and rain, nothing but hills and rain.
I'm 40y.o. and new to bike commuting. I'm pulling a child trailer most days, dropping the kid at daycare, going to work, picking him up at the end of the day. Pulling a weighted trailer up the hills sure is a good aerobic workout. Looking for tips of cold weather riding, lights, and other added bits of functionality making things easier.

Hey!
Welcome newbs......
Chumford..Sounds like you dived into the bike thing head first! My advice?
Wool and tons of lights to keep you and your kiddlin' safe. Don't forget lights for side visibility. I like the Knog products for side visibility. Also the LED lights that go on valve caps are great. Maybe some down low glow?

Best advise I got when I started commuting was "Be seen not scene!" (As in accident scene).

Hi all. I live in University Place, WA. For those not from the area, it is adjacent to the SW boundary of Tacoma. It is home of the 2015 U.S. Open golf tournament, for which I am planning to be out of town.
It is hilly and beautiful here, with lots of great riding when the weather permits (and sometimes even when it doesn't.)

North Bend, WA. Can be found commuting to that little software company in Redmond ~3+ times a week year around, and all over the local valleys, Juanita area, Bothell, Woodinville, Carnation, Ames Lake, Tolt, up to the Summit... Come nicer weather, I'm on the road bike or Tri bike, these days the Cross bike kitted up for yucky dark weather commutes!

Hey all I am currently a Senior at Oregon State University. I am originally from Sublimity Oregon which is just 15 minutes east of Salem on hwy 22. I am currently building a 1970's Nishiki into a SS/FG. I do plan on getting an older geared bike as well to fix up and take on some longer rides! Although we had a rough day yesterday....GO BEAVS!!!
