Carpool to NAHBS?

Anybody from Whatcom County (or anywhere else in the NW) interested in carpooling to NAHBS? I still have to make sure I can go, and I would probably only go for one day/night, but I would love to go down to Portland and check it out.

Bikes: Nishiki Nut! International, Pro, Olympic 12, Sport mixte, and others too numerous to mention.

My husband and I will be going, although I'm not certain when we'll be leaving. He's going to go for the Sportsmans Show, and I'll be there for the NAHBS. I'm hoping to get there for the Friday evening, so that we can do a meet and greet at the Lucky Lab.

We'll be leaving from Kent, of course. If you can't stay for more than one day, perhaps you could take Amtrak back?

Perhaps, right now I'm just trying to see what kind of options are out there. I may be able to convince my wife to come and make a weekend out of it yet!

That's my plan! Besides, that way I'd be able to meet the people who snagged that nice Miyata 1000!

If he does, I promise not to hold it for ransom or drool over it too much.

fyi: this Texan booked his airfare and hotel this morning. I'll be staying at the La Quinta a few blocks away, arriving noon on Friday and leaving Monday afternoon.

I haven't heard from him lately on the status, but since he's not posting a lot, I think he must be working hard to get it ready .

My boyfriend and I are going. It's his birthday the 8th, so we are going to make a weekend of it. He doesn't ride bike (can't ride -- knee issues), the current plan is I'll go to the show during the day on bike, so he has free reign of the car to do his own thing. We are staying at the Kennedy School, which should give me a decent enough ride to the convention.

I'm very excited. I just hope I can get out of the convention center w/o putting anything on my credit card.

Are there lots of places to lock up bikes at the convention center?

There must be places to lock up a bike! Donna could probably answer that question better than I can, though.

I've seen a couple of threads about this show -- this one about carpooling, and another one in Classic and Vintage. Should we start a new thread about where BF people might arrange to meet at the show? Breakfast/lunch/dinner/etc?

I'm thinking that we're going to try to be there Friday afternon/evening, and will be hitting the Lucky Lab, close to where donnamb lives.

If we don't make it Friday, we'll certainly stay overnight on Saturday, and we'd hit the Lucky Lab again in the evening. We should be able to meet at least a few BF folks. Apparently a lot of the SS/FG folks will be there, and some of the AltBikers too.

Good to know. I doubt we'll make it Friday night to the Lucky Lab, and Saturday has a better possibility. If anything else, see everyone at the show itself!

I get the feeling that Saturday evening at the Lucky Lab would probably work best with almost everyone's schedule...

If people could post a range of times they plan to be there, it would be helpful. We have a dinner date with friends we haven't seen in ages, so if ya'll are there later we could join you for a nightcap.

Otherwise, we could have our nightcap at Henry's. Or, head over to the Laurelthurst for some music with our nightcap. Or, one of those bars downtown. Or, back to the Kennedy School.

Sigh. I Portland.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be Saturday evening at the SE Lucky Lab, I'm just running a few ideas by some PDX members first. If people have friends they want to see, invite 'em! There's plenty of room.

Sounds as if the plans are firming up.

I really can't wait to meet so many BF members in person .

Heck, I'd go just for that reason alone, never mind that I get to see all those beautiful bikes AND I'm supposed to be getting my mixte .

Just FYI that the CR (Classic Rendevous) list is having a get together Saturday night as well. I know a lot of the C&V folk belong to both groups and may have to split our time between the two of we have a BF's get together Saturday night as well.

We can't all fit in the Lucky Lab at the same time?

Where are they meeting? The Lucky Lab is huge.

The show is just going to be a bonus.

I think Mr. East Hill will join us later in the evening. He's actually planning on going to the Sportsmans show, and letting me roam around the bicycles on my own.

He is indeed a sweetheart!
