Looks like I'm not going to be making it this weekend. Too much life gets in the way of bikes sometimes. Have a great time for me, everybody!

Sorry to hear it TommyL.

Someone bring a marker and some name tags or something to the BF's get together so we can ID each other! At the show I hope to be wearing my BF's t-shirt at least one day so that some of you might be able to recognize me easier in the masses.

What is the best route to bike from the convention center area to the Lucky Lab (for the Worst Day Ride)?
Unfortunately this is one of the places where the streets aren't as friendly as they could be, the confluence of several major streets, the highway, the max, the rose quarter and the convention center. The bike friendly route takes you a few blocks out of the way.

I'd ride up to 12th to get the bridge across the highway Lloyd has a bike lane almost to 12th.
go south on 12th until you come to a 6way intersection
Veer right onto sandy blvd
coast down sandy and it'll bend left and become 7th
ride south to madison, take a right and go a block and a half west. Park at the bike rack. It's the back of the LL but well signed.

If there wasn't much traffic (later in the evening but watch out for drunks) I'd take MLK south until I crossed the highway then jog east to seventh and go from there. I've ridden the sidewalk down MLK as well but it's usually full of day laborers looking for work.

Shoooooooooooot. I forgot to buy my ticket in advance. Registration is now closed.

Anyone know if they 'run out' of tickets day-of?

I didn't even consider buying a ticket in advance -- I'm assuming that it will be open admission Saturday and there will be plenty of room.

Unclear, this is the first time it's been held in Portland.

That would be my impression as well. I don't think they would shut out people who want to fork over $18 to look at bicycles, you know?

Well, that would just mean more time for partying, then . There's always Powell's Books, as well.

I'm in Portland now; drove down (through the rain) last night. My son is looking at a local college today while I hang out in bike shops.

I will be at the gates at opening tomorrow morning, fighting the rest of you for tickets. I'm really not worried; as excited as we all are about bikes I don't think we're exactly *normal*; I wouldn't expect the crowds to be any larger than your typical boat show/car show/home show kind of crowd. But ya' never know!

I'm hanging out in the student union now while he does campus tours/visits. He is headed back to Seattle tonite because he's going to be a precinct captain for the Washington caucuses tomorrow (Dad is hanging out a bike show, son is making the world a better place to live...).

I've read that the closest neighborhood w/campus hangouts is the Hawthorne/Belmont district...is that so? Are their other neighborhoods we should cruise by before we drop him off at Amtrak station?

Ha. My housemate is a Reedie... she would tell him to go there. It's a great school.

I'm about 2 miles from you right now.

Got to Dots. It's at SE 26th and SE Clinton. Great food, funky atmosphere. (not even a half mile from my house ) But yes, Hawthorne/Belmont are great. If he likes coffee, any place that has Stumptown coffee is good. There's one on Belmont in the 20s and one on Division in the 40s.

Just a minor correction...Stumptown on Belmont is at 34th.

Ok, anyone making a last minute check--the meeting at 1.00 pm will be at the Starbucks by the main doors.

See you all there!

Just look for the best looking woman there (Donna), and then there's me, the short redhead .

Ok, I'm going to be there with the dark blue BikeForums T-shirt on, probably the only one there with that color as it was a limited edition Moderator version. So that'll likely narrow it down to a pretty darn good chance if you see one, that's ME!

I'm going to wear this t-shirt today. I will look more haggard, since I have a pretty nasty cold...
