I'm not slow compared to most riders, I'm bad compared to decent amateur racers. On the other hand if I can get a little faster and maintain, I'll be competitive in the 55+ in 2012 when I'll be eligible for that age group. Regardless, I like the TTs and riding my TT bike. Hey, I averaged 23 mph for 20+ miles, can't do that on a regular bike, only on a TT bike in a race.

I'm now convinced Wade Phillips has to go. They don't go for takeaways enough, play too safe on defense, not aggressive enough defensively - that's all coaching strategy.
Bye Wade.
Good luck, Jen.

The Cowboys pass rush was incredible with Demarcus Ware, esp after Chris Williams got hurt. It seemed like they backed off, which I couldn't understand. Cutler was getting hit on every play in the first.

Cutler is weird, in a creepy sort of way. Not in a Rothlisberger way, but something isn't right with him.
Just my opinion.

You spend a lot of time on the saddle, and not riding to the store to pick milk either so that's got to count for something. I just want to get a sense of where I am in relation to other riders in a competitive sense. I ride with a group consisting of different level of racers and when they decide to turn it up I can usually do ok at keeping pace, but when the 3's, 2's, and 1's turn it up then that's when I typically get shelled.
In distance running, you'd just get shelled in the first couple of miles and that would be the end of it.

Cycling is an interesting sport. Considering that any decent Cat 3 guy would have averaged 25 mph on that TT course, and Cat 2's are more like 27+ mph, it's amazing that somebody as slow as I am can even hang with those guys in a group ride or race, but it's possible. Knowing how to suck wheel is key, and so is dosing your efforts judiciously. But you can get enough of a draft to hang on, and once in a while to even factor into a ride or race.

If the race or group you're in is faster than you, you have no particular business on the front. When you rotate there, count 3 mississippi and rotate back. On the other hand, the slower you are, the more critical it becomes to try and stay in the first 10 guys, for a number of reasons. Stronger riders can close gaps that open up. You may not be able to.

On the NFL topic, I hate that icing crap on field goals. Yeah, the Redskins got burned by it, but let the players win the friggin' game. If my team won by pulling that crap, it would be a tainted win IMO...
Maybe they should dis-allow it in OT...

I've learned on the faster nights to stay near, but not at the front as possible and to shamelessly minimize pulling... as has already been said.
My one add would be do not get directly behind the fastest, hardest pulling guy if you can help it. When I've been on the edge just to hold a wheel, the last thing I need is to have to rotate back and re-accelerate as the group passes.

How do you keep folks pulling at a steady pace instead of hitting it harder when they get up front?
