I asked a former roommate (anesthesiologist) and he seems much more ambivalent about criminal charges. Interesting.

There are a lot of docs who do not like the idea of criminal charges in cases where malpractice leads to untimely deaths. They would prefer the licensing boards deal with things. The problem is that our licensing boards don't deal with it.

Put it this way. If I'm an architect and design a building that I KNOW has a reasonable chance of collapsing under routine conditions (ie: no natural disasters) and the building collapses while people are in it and they die. Is that manslaughter? I say yes.

yes. you can't eat enough homebrew to kill yourself. you might get violently ill but that will just clear the bad stuff.

blr's bike sale reminds me of a conversation i had recently. a guy who earns in the region of 3/4 million us$ per year was complaining that bikes are way expensive. "I paid $500 for my bike!" he exclaimed.

my build up of my bike came to about Ł1,800. I was too embarrassed to reveal this as it would make me sound like a frikin moron. i think BF distorts our sense of reality.

Two different currencies in one story? I can't follow all this.

Are you a licensed practitioner? Where do we file complaints?

I agree. It was not intentional....but involuntary manslaughter sounds about right, based on my limited knowledge of the case.

rjones, I think you will get the best bang for the buck with a Fuji. Everyone I have talked to that owns one is thrilled with theirs, as well. I love the look of all the Orbea's I have seen, but have never actually taken one for a ride. Not sure what to say about the Jamis line.

of the college football marching bands that you monkeys have put on this thread, the UT one is by far the most impressive.

whew... my very structured trainer session just came to an end.

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/65146696

As you can see from the cadence I started with a 5 min warm upat ~80 rpm then did 3 5' "intervals" at 95 rpm. Then I did my "spin very fast" intervals which involve spinning as fast as possible then taking it down to 80 rpm till your HR feels normal then doing it again. I am very upset I can't hit 200 rpm. I of course followed this up with 3 min grinding a big gear at 60rpm with one last "spin very fast" interval.

As you can tell by my use of technical jargon and very structured plan I am going to be awesome this spring (first race is 6 weeks away )
