Riding while on ADT

I have prostate cancer (PCa) and am currently undergoing Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT). Soon will add Zytiga with prednisone, and radiation in a couple of months. Side effects are weakness and tiredness among other things. I have been Zwifting every other day. I have some longer rides IRL in a month or so-up to a metric century. Has anyone biked while undergoing ADT? If so, how far? As an aside, I am 80.

Saddened to read that you have joined the PCa Club. My membership began in March of 2015 at almost 65yo with GLEASON 10. Did not want ADT so chose Bilateral Orchiectomy, surgical castration. My strength declined along with endurance same as if I had ADT but I did not experience any of the ADT (chemical) induced Side Effects that some men experience. Future recovery from a ride will take longer so being able to hop back on the saddle the day after a good ride and really enjoy a B2B Ride (Back to Back) might not happen as easily as it does now resulting in disappointment. From researching effects I knew what would be happening and accepted the NEW ME continuing the best I could. Managed to ride Six Gap very successfully after the orchiectomy.

I must add a CAVEAT here -- My treatment is not SOC (Standard of Care) and as such I am on TRT, (Testosterone Replacement Therapy) contrary to medial practices. Bicycling 100 miles today with this past Sunday's 103 miles and my 70th Birthday 141 miles on 7/10 might very well not have been possible in such short order if not for the "T" injections.

Good luck and I will entertain any questions you might have r.e. PCa if you want to PM me. Very good PCa Forums online for info that is more current than some doctors seem to know. I am assuming that you have High Gleason or mets.

Hi,
Glad to hear from you. I have hiked and mountain climbed all my life. Came into biking at age 70, riding a 2012 Roubaix, after doing a bit of biking, but not seriously 25 years previously. Have done centuries and metric centuries here in the relative flat northeast.

PCa started in 2015 with an FLA by Dr. Walser. Needed another one in 2018, so cancer not gone. PSA kept climbing so had some scans and found more cancer, and also 2 mets in left hip. Gleason measured a last year, and checked by Dr. Epstein was 3+4. Mostly 3. Dr. Busch has been involved the last couple of years, and did my last in bore biopsy. We were just playing "Whack-a-mole", so had to get serious.

Have second Firmagon shot Aug 11, and Zytiga when approved by insurance co. Getting SpaceOAR prior to radiation, which will start mid Sept. I hope to be able to do the metric century as part of a virtual Lighthouse ride , the first week in Sept, before radiation. We will see how riding with SpaceOAR goes. The company says riding is OK.

How do I PM you?
