I do that often because the later plastic oil...

I do that often because the later plastic oil fillers often break when you open them. The hub takes so little oil that it's easy to put a teaspoon in the axle end.

I ride nothing but vintage steel but for lighting I use modern dynamo hubs and modern led lights. Some things just work better. Heck my sturmey archer hubbed bikes have dynamos and led lights.

To be honest, they were the only brifters I ever liked. Later I tried some Shimano 10 speed which convinced me that suntour friction barcons were what I wanted forever but the 8 speed campy worked...
