The video with the Hitler actor spoof pretty much hits the bulls eye on the sillyness of "real cyclist" that rant and rave against bents and trikes. As far as I am concerned the fully kitted real cyclist can rant and rave all they want to. I am riding what I want to, how I want to, as fast as I want to, at what cadence feels comfortable, and wearing what I want to. I seldom pretend I am racing, and I ride in total comfort. No use of the "real cyclist" getting their greased up dead goat skins all in a wad over what I say, their tiny little saddles are already causing pain enough. Ride what you like, I am!!! Oh and BTW I dont wobble on either my bike or trike.

Ride what ya like, like what ya ride.
I did 200k+ (131 mi) on my df yesterday. No df-specific aches and pains today, but I have spent the last 50 years getting my fit dialed.
I've also done some (ridiculously) mega distances on 'bents - up to 1200k in < 80 hours, with no untoward discomfort.
Lesson? Both can be kind to the body, but the df may take more effort to get a proper fit.
(FWIW, I celebrated the big six-one earlier this year, so age isn't necessarily a determining factor)

I like you attitude about your 9 year bike. I have "reverted" back to my '82 Trek which was when Trek still handmade them in Wisconsin. I took it to a bike show for an event I was participating in, and there were looks of envy.
I haven't upgraded it because the bike can still "out perform" me. It isn't the weak link, I am. Having said that, as much as I love it, I just can't spend the hours in the saddle anymore. I need to move to a recumbent for any long rides.
By the way. From north of Boston originally. Have a slice of pizzar for me, and cheer on the Sox!
