I'm working on trying to set my wife's EZ Sport up with a computer that includes cadence capability. I have a Vetta VR77 available, not sure I can get the speed sensor to reach up to the crossbar on the bars, but it might. My biggest issue though is the cadence sensor. I know I can't get it close enough to the crank to work properly, so I'm trying to come up with a solution. I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone else had already solved it.

Don't know if you are committed to the Vetta. But if your not then look at the Echowell F2. I just order one with the long wire setup for my Trike. I ordered it from tri-zone.com. I have Echowell J12 and like the display(I have is set to show cadance, speed ,and distance all in the same window) so much that I ordered the F2. It also keeps average, max cadance. Topeka makes something similar I think its the comp140 but couldn't find a long wire solution. Should arrive by end of week and will let you know how the hook up went.

You're going to run into the mounting problem no matter which computer you choose. The most common solution is to zip-tie the magnet on the small chainring instead of the crank arm. You should be able to figure out how to wrap the zip-tie around a chainring bolt while keeping the magnet out of the chain path. Then, mount the sensor to the derailleur post. You should have enough swivel range to make the sensor work.

I've never yet met a computer wiring harness that couldn't be lengthened by splicing in some 18 gauge wire. Some are easier than others, though...

Thanks guys! I like the Vetta...since I have it, you know? I hadn't thought of mounting the mag on the chainring, will give that a look. The cadence sensor should be plenty long, but I will have to splice in some wire to extend the speed sensor, I'm pretty sure. Is there any benefit to putting it on the rear (26") wheel as opposed to the front (20") wheel? I know how to do a rollout, so that's not a problem, just curious if there's any difference.

the only problem with mounting it on the chinring side is that if the chain coems off it hits the magnet. I extended the length of my magnet by adding a rare earth magent https://www.wondermagnet.com/main.shtml
I had to add them to one of my wheels has the magnet was so far away fro mthe sensor.
