Quick note from DALMAC

THis is the end of day 3 (of 4) and I got a WIFI signal, so I thought I'd give a quick update. Pardon the typing; this netbook is impossible to type on!

Day one was fun, although it was headwind. I pulled the group of uprights, which doesn't usually happen! On day 2 we had terriffic winds - sometimes gusting to 40 mph and once nearly blowing my wheels out from under me. Then the rain hit, but at least it made the wind stop!

Today it rained almost all day. In spite of it I got a few pics and even a couple movie clips. I'll have to post when I get home. Also, you know how 'they' say never ride in a strange paceline? 'They' were right. 5 bikes led by two tandems. Plus me. Lead tandem didn't see the turn marking unti it went under them. So they simply slammed on thebrakes. What a mess! I got out of it with a big bruise on my right hip and a very bloody (but nothing serious) elbow.

For now, the rain has stopped, but there's a 30% chance of rain tomorrow, and if Im reading the radar, it's more like 80% tonight and 70% tomorrow. I can hardly wait...

Other than the wet/windy weather and accident/injures, sounds like you're having a wonderful time!
Hope the rest of the ride is fun.

I'm recovering today. I was right about the weather, the rain started at about 10:00 pm and lasted until about 5:00 am. I stayed dry during Sunday's ride, although with WIND at 10-20 mph in our face was a bit tough. I did get a break for a few miles, on a short eastbound stretch. We got rain, but it didn't hit until after almost everyone was done with their ride. My camera is still packed somewhere, and I have to do a LOT of laundry to get ready for BRAT at the end of the week. I'll put up some pics when I can.

Edit:
I put up pics on facebook, here. I made it public, so it should be accessible. (I hope.)

The actual ride report will have to wait until after BRAT, as will a couple of videos I'm having trouble with. It seems my vintage computer at home can't handle the newer formats.
