I agree. Plus that's a freakin awesomely obnoxious shade of yellow, and you have a few pirate friends that love conversion projects.

good karma

the cranks alone are worth that much,

except that they are 110 BCD, you can find mtn rings up to 46, and Salsa still make road and fixed rings that size.

Hey poop, your headset got mailed today, so it should be here next week. Also, who's doing this Sunday ride with RPC? It's one of the few weekend days I have off for a while so lets all dress funny and ride gears!

Tomorrow morning I'm doing the Ghandi Kick's Your Ass Up A Mountain Metric (oh yes, you know the one).
Sunday I was thinking of doing this Hilly one I got from the PPTC library. It's 40mi+ starts just west of the the 495/395 interchange near Springfield.

guy from B more coming to buy my motorcycle at 11, so will miss kicking Ghandi's head around like a soccer ball.

Why hills on Sunday? I was thinking of distance on WOD, a nice return ride to Perciville

I just got a geared bike, so I'm up for some long rides either day this weekend, or both. I'm cleaning everything and putting it together tonight, so hopefully it'll be ready to go tomorrow.

Big ups to Shane for letting me borrow some tires. If anyone is bored tonight I'll be sitting around having some Red Stripe and assembling bike crap, feel free to stop by. 2 02 six-ate-zero tutu-ate-won

Ah, I think I'm going to be homebound today ... just ate a huge plate of spaggetti for tomorrow's little solo excursion into Maryland and the commute today sucked ...

<rant> Went to work, hit every red light in Georgetown and then flatted on the Custis. Was late to work. When I left, my new tube flattened again! I inspected it to find that the peice of glass I thought I had extracted in the morning had actually just broken and there was still a peice stuck in the tire!</rant>

But ... Mike and Spud are at Malcom X park I believe.
Zack is building his wheels.
I bet other's are playing bikes too - to coin Ryan's phrase

I'm not supposed to be advertising this, really, but if anyone's interested just PM me and we'll chat about it:

I work in a small experiential bike shop that serves my immediately local community (in MD - close to metro, though). There are stands, most tools that you'll need, and used parts if you need something. I can't let people come and raid it for mutant bikes or whatever but if someone needs to use a stand or have another pair of hands with a project hit me up. Our business slows down dramatically in the fall & winter, meaning lots of time to play with my bikes (and friends' bikes ). Oh yeah it's free.

Most of you already have what you need, but there have been some folks posting lately that are just getting a first build together...

Have a great weekend.

Ok, so what's up with this weekend's rides?

Saturday - possible long distance on W&OD
- RPC's Ghandi's Kick your ass ride
Sunday - Laps'n'cheese? regular time, regular place?
- RPC's hilly 40-mi from Springfield
- also possible long distance on W&OD

so who's planning on doing what? I'd really like to do the W&OD, especailly if we do it today, as I think it would be cool to stop in Ashburn and take a tour (and samples) of Old Dominion Brewery (could make it a pillage?) Although I'd be up for doing that tomorrow too. Also, I've never been to Laps'n'cheese, and I was hoping that this Sunday could be my first.

I'm doing whatever the group decides or whichever one leaves earlier in the day. W&OD is nice, but RPC usually has some cool stuff up his sleeve too...

PS: Anybody does that Ghandi Ride fixed gets free beer (root or otherwise) from me.

Countdown is ON!! I started at 10 this morning building up my motobecane frame into a gearie, and my new old gearie Raleigh is to become my fixed! I need spacers though for the chainring... the chainring bolts don't tighten down far enough!!!
I should have both done by the end of the weekend, but the geared motobecane is my primary objective of this morning... time to run some shifter cables! (challenging, since the shifter braze-ons were brazed-off) KLUGE project, ahoy!

You need different chainring bolts dude. Cheap as hell at the bike shop, I don't think I've ever heard of spacers for 'em. See you tomorrow?

the spacers are part of the assembly for a multi speed crankset, you use them to space out the different chainrings and they are great for frankensteining, but with the all the interest recently there are a loads of steel single ring bolts floating around shops these days. Funny, cause they used to be rare so everyone automatically started squirreling them away and then realized they are not rare anymore.

Met some nice richmond kids at ranier maria show last night.

I am free this weekend and would like to ride some more.

What are these rides?

call?

Anyone getting a later start today on a ride?

I walked outside today and thought ... this could end in tears.
I made it to Rock Creek Park and a little damp rain was falling, I figured, "let's see how it is once I get to MacArthur."
I make to MacArthur and its misty droplets ... "not bad, lets see how far on MacArthur I can go."
To River Road, same conditions - "okay, now I'm used to this, lets keep it up!"
50 miles later - I turn onto 13th St NW and the skies descend upon me! I felt like it was a congratulations and welcome home sprinkle ... timing rules - I definately feel it was some new age destiny crap to go on this ride today.

Total time 3hrs 45mins avg 17.0mph - yeah hills, who got p0wnd? joo did 4 sur3!

Sunday ride plans look like an election with 1 republican and 3 democrat candidates - and you know how that never turns out well for anyone. Bearing that in mind, I am dropping my ride plans and will head over to Haines. If there's some after Cheese plans, I'll go along with those.

Just incase anyone wants to get in on discounted tickets for the game at the end of The Soccer Pitch pillage, I'm going to be ordering my tickets soon. If anyone wants in on the discounted price ($20) let me know by tommarow 8:00 pm and I'll tack them on to my order.

Bummer, I was hoping for an earlier ride cuz I have some crap to do in the afternoon. So early W&OD? 9:00 AM roll out from the Key Bridge? End at Haines around 11:00?

took a little longer to get things squared away today, wetness and all.
looking to just be a bum right now vice squirting a metric in like that RPC guy

what to do tomorrow is up in the air
I'll call RPC and see if we can work out a pre hains ride or a post hains ride. I was hoping to get in 100 miles between today and tomorrow, but it looks like a metric type of thing now.

early ride to end at hains for laps and cheese does have appeal. that and a post hains ride down to mt v or to ice cream on the WOD?///
