woo hoo! i'll actually be in town on that date. let's cancel the wednesday ride and do this instead.

ps- LBK- anyone who ever insults your bike deserves a facepunch. Insulting someone's bike is like insulting their child. It is always wrong. That and your bike is purdy. I think they're jealous.

yey! HOpe yer having a blast in LA. The World Cup sounded awesome.

and

It was just the rear wheel that was insulted. Admittedly, it's fugly and sketchy looking. There were no insults or attitude about the bike. I think I just encountered someone who is opposed to conversions and thinks they're unsafe, even tho I have brakes, don't skid, etc. He really wanted me to put a freewheel on it. booo.

by the way, elbeekay... you should tell us which shops gave you attitude. we need to keep track of shops that aren't pirate-friendly.

-Revolution Clarendon never ceases to make me feel ******** and/or underwhelmed by their service.
-Go to Cap Hill Bikes if you want to get hit on.
-City Bikes if you want mixed messages. (they both installed my axle and criticized it)
-Spokes in Vienna is the only place so far where someone spent a lot of time with me explaining stuff, and didn't make me feel bad for not being able to articulate in bikespeak as adeptly as some. And so I dropped some cash there. See how that works?

This has been my LBS experience in a nutshell, all broadly generalized by me. Because these were my experiences.

Big Wheel in Old Towne if you want your chain tension to disappear 2 blocks from the shop while turning into traffic; admittedly the BB was shot the day i bought it and probably did not help matters.

Yeah, I wouldn't blame them totally for that.

They did come through for me on spacers.

Oh god yes. I get my stitches out on Tuesday. I am so game. I'll bring the real maple syrup. None of that aunt Jemima sh*t. [edit: I guess that is next month. Thanks LBK. I am quite confused right now.]

Dave, check that picture again. It says 1993, right on it. Water under the bridge my man. he is yours. Scarlett Johansson is mine.

And when i'm well, we shall go to the fixie bashing lbs and tell the guy he can shove it right up....er...he can go put a kickstand on his Colnago.

I have a really good friend that works on and off at Spokes. Dwayne is his name. His fix is a conversion.

I'm doing well, thanks for all the concern. Actually, really fabulous about now.

That's a great shop. I double flatted on the way to work one day and shouldered my bike a few blocks as I only had one tube. The shop wasn't supposed to open for 2 more hours, but someone (who was inside doing payroll) saw me outside and opened up just so I could get a tube and use their floor pump. It's little things like that that earn lifelong customers.

Spokes in Vienna may be cool, but avoid the one on Quaker just off King St near 395. They totally screwed up the pedals on a Specialized Sirrus I bought(one came off while riding, and both sets of threads were trashed) and messed up the set-up on the rear brake. After having it looked at by another shop,I made them take it back.

Revolution Cycles in Georgetown gets props. They've always treated me right. I go to them for most of my work.

City Bikes in Adams Morgan has been good/bad,depending on who's working. Their shop in Chevy Chase installed the front wheel on my Milano backwards and had the tires way overinflated.

Bicycle Pro shop in Georgetown is good. I get my Octopus pedals there cheap.

Performance bike in Rockville is ok. The one in Springfield is sketchy.

REI in Rockville is good.

Big Wheel in Georgetown is sketchy, the salesmen at both Bethesda and Lee Hwy are indifferent.

All the HTO's I've been to seem ok.

photos! photos!

and on a not pain pill related topic...
If I was going to be in this hemisphere, I would be gathering a team of pirates to road trip to stupor bowl.
why?
cuz i've heard it's one of the best parties on earth, and cuz those midwestern folk are friendly as hell.
but isn't that an insane drive?
yes.
what's the race like?
let's just say there are two winners - one who rides the checkpoints and one who rides the checkpoints and drinks at each of them.
isn't minneapolis cold?
yes.
didn't the last pirate road trip have, um, erm, issues?
yes, but that was then and this is now. the curse is gone. the drinks are cheap.
who will bail out the clink?
that depends on what he gets arrested for.

hey, it was just an idea.

PLUS
Hydrocodone + acetaminophen = vicodine. Acetaminophen multiplies the effect of the Hydrocodone to whhhooooo shi+ levels.
Not anything fun, but i am also on: Cephalexin (antibiotic)

And then, drum roll please:

The all powerful Percocet.

So, there it is kids. My room is starting to look a lot like thee Pharmacy Bar. To come to think of it, BF too.
According to the doc, taking acetaminophen with any pain killer will amplify the effects. Just a little advice.
And no, i will not be sharing. Rx drugs are only to be used under a Doctors supervision. Unless you really beg me. Like with mac and cheesless and Indian food. Hey, i guess everyone has their price.

Love and all that gooey ****, Noah
