saturday night race(s) = saturday night ride(s)
lots of people coming...don't be spoilsports 10:30, mt tabor pub on 50th + hawthorne. meet under the chinsy neon sign |
the actual ride was relatively dry!
|
Anyone bight it yet? I skidded out yesterday morning on some leaves, somehow didn't fall though, I was going about 5-10 mph (not really sure probably closer to 5) and somehow ran out of it though my bike was on the ground I somehow am super slick.
Also, puddles you can't see the bottom of that you need to ride through? Sketchy as ****! |
the ride home from work last night brought me through three puddles that reached my bb.
havent crashed yet, but damn is it taking a long time to get anywhere. seems no matter which way I'm going, there is a headwind. monsoon season is totally go. |
somehow i can skid stop just sitting down now whereas before i always had to be standing up to do it, not sure if the wet streets have to do with that or if i just progressed into it...
yeah those wet leaves are a killer, i can't wait until the leaves are all gone in a month and the street sweeper carries them away. something in me likes the bare trees and cold, black streets of winter over this oil slick autumn ****. haven't had a serious fall yet though but my friend went down. anyone catch the news? brakeless fixies are being targeted for fines again, don't think i'm going to put brakes on anytime soon though. on the other hand i hope this doesn't work against me one night when i'm riding my bike while under the influence of controlled substances... |
I actually made my commute today without getting drenched, hooray!
|
i've just got my feet left to deal with...i guess have to get some neoprene socks
|
rain socks are whats up
|
rain socks? really?
I dont see how a sock can breathe and keep you dry at the same time if your shoe is a total swamp from a downpour. I aim for wet, yet warm. got some super thick merino wool socks that feel like slippers at rei. my feet have been downright hot. thankfully, it's not raining today so whatever on the whole thing. |
i mean its not totally breathing. but i prefer it to soaked. i wear normal socks under them. then take them off when i get where i'm going
|
Def go Smart wool... or whatever generic wool equivalent. If it's not too wet out or you have fenders that deflect most of the water they'll only get a little wet and be dry after an hour inside.
Also if you are so inclined... there's a piece on LandShark Cycles in Medford on OPB's Art Beat tonight at 8pm. He'll probably be showing off some of his crazy paint jobs. |
shilo loves lambswool
|
merino wool dylan. not lambswool.
and yes, if possible, I would marry it. i gotsa get a date who works at smartwool to hook a discount up. **** is expensive like whoa. |
if you find a girlfriend who knits + spins, you get whatever you want. my wool cycling jersey will be done soon:)
ps...i'm still getting waterproof socks though. wool is warmer when it's wet, but it sucks putting anything wet back on. |
details, details shilo...kool keith & panther tonight!
