zelah 10-22-06 11:37 PM

numbers are droppin harsh. only 4 people. me matt gnarboots and braingel, we decided to just go for a ride instead of racing

we had a bromantic time on a dock in sellwood before splitting up

endform 10-23-06 12:14 AM

getting closer to downtown, corner of moody and curry i think. if you see a cannondale locked up at the bottom of a hill near construction, slow down

I dont know most of you or the dude who got hit (my condolences) but why dont one of you help him out and go get his bike so it doesnt get stripped?

I know if I was in his position, it would be nice to know that even if my frame was ****ed, I might be able to recover something.

he's totally down. in fact, he's personally guarding my ride right now.

zelah 10-23-06 11:49 PM

its locked with his keys, i dont know that he's in any position to hand them back over

cassette 10-24-06 09:36 AM

too bad it's not at psu. some dude that likes to **** with bikes could have unlocked it for us. oh wait...

humancongereel 10-25-06 08:57 PM

man, long time since i've posted...i don't live at a house with wifi anymore. suckage.

here's what i don't like about portland, and it's about the only thing: people give a **** about bikes here. higher profile + more people doing it = cops riding your ass like there's no tomorrow. the brake tickets? in another town, people might go "those dudes can go **** themselves" and leave it at that. in portland, people allow it to become a "problem". i recall taking a college course on social problems, the basic premise being that no condition is inherently a problem, but is made one by people in society identifying it as such. case in point, the previously mentioned brake tickets (and the current sting on the broadway bridge, watch yourselves). wouldn't be a problem elsewhere where bikes would simply be written off, but here people go on about "being treated like a car" like its desireable and the cops will hold you to the laws that are written for cars and blah blah blah blah...i hear chicago is nice to ride in. i kinda want to check that **** out. plus it snows there. snow is radicool.

anyway, i've been absent. i should try to get on more. zombie cult massacre race this saturday, 7:30 pm at alberta park (20th and killingsworth), 7 bucks, 15 if you want a shirt (they're pretty sweet).

man, you gotta learn how to work around them. i go over them all the damn time, no issues, even when wet and when cars are raging all over.

humancongereel 10-25-06 09:01 PM

oh, and oops. zombie massacre: http://www.portlandmessenger.org/?e=...&t=zombies2006

humancongereel 10-25-06 09:32 PM

and who wants to watch quicksilver? i'm no longer homeless and can have a quicksilver party.

and tehz, i was going to go to the race till i realized you didn't say where it was, and i'd lost your digits.

zerobug 10-25-06 09:37 PM

goddamit, it's getting too cold... time to break out the winter ****.

does anyone know if any of the shops have frame alignment tables or will straighten a fork out? I am in need of such services... any of the local frame builders? The shops down here in the valley were no help.

Serendipper 10-25-06 09:51 PM

IAN. WTF...dude...go to juvi's thread about the death of BikeForums and check in...cause your absence was one of the reasons shlt died around here.

humancongereel 10-25-06 10:12 PM

what? whoa. i should get the internet again.

braingel 10-25-06 10:32 PM

is anybody going to the NOISE ride on saturday?

humancongereel 10-25-06 11:02 PM

meh, i thought about it, but the whole "bring extra tubes and patches" thing sort of put me off...i don't want to subject my work bike to any craziness like that, plus i only have so many patches and no extra tubes, so...yeah. i see how it can be fun, but it doesn't sound like i'd do too well. i may just go to on the expedition to the velodrome saturday morning.

braingel 10-25-06 11:31 PM

i'm coincidentally picking up a nice aluminum redline monocog tomorrow, so i'm kind of excited about it. i'd been looking for something nice like that for a while, to use as a dumpstering/grocery bike, and right after i talked to the guy i found out about the noise thing.

Did anyone do the zombie ride last night? It looked like fun but I had made plans prior. I saw a bunch of people zooming down 12th while I was going north.

JoeEasy 10-30-06 02:37 PM

yeah, i did. it was pretty sweet...there were waaay more people than were expected, though, so things got sort of hectic and it wasn't as rad as i think it could have been (like the roast pig never showed and stuff)....but there was fun racing, zombies everywhere, fake blood all over, footdown, trackstands, mass drunkeness (a few people and i were going to go back downtown and actually had to walk our bikes due to extreme drunkenness. a friend ended up with someone else's bike and no idea how/why. someone caught a hand on fire. one guy shot another with an airgun and got a punch in the ear. mass craziness...people gettin' straight rowdy).

andre nickatina 10-31-06 07:31 PM

yeah, pretty sure i saw everyone that rides fixed in portland at that certain fiesta off powell last saturday...
