What he said. The ride leaves in a couple of weeks and if anyone can chip in a bit of extra cash I'd really appreciate it. I'm still a bit short on my fundraising goal but if few more people sponsor me I think I'll get there. Aaanyway, I just finished a 90km training ride out to Pickering and back after work so it's time for me to find a shower and a pillow.

Check Cam's signature for my sponsorship page if you can help out.

I would so love to help, but after dropping $2200 on tuition, $500 on rent and $500 on books(and mortgage, taxes, bills....) while being unemployed has left me dipping into my line of credit. I'll take you out for good coffee and a bite while you are in K-town.

Woooooot! Thanks! That's awesome.

In other news, it's just a scratch next to my head tube and not a crack. IT IS NOT A CRACK, SO HELP ME GOD. I'm totally going to catch a case and end up flipping a cop car if I broke another frame.

Edit: It's just a scratch.

Hey Monkeys,
I have some Gore samples that need to find homes. I want to have this stuff gone before Monday. Everything is selling at way under wholesale. You know where to find me.

Gore Balance II Jacket, I have two in yellow. Both are mediums. $50. Great price for Windstopper.

Gore Firm Grip Gloves in Black, Large x 3, Medium x 3 and 1 small. $20 w/Leather palm.

Gore Power Bib one left in Large. $50

I can't put these on the wall so if you come by the shop just ask for me.

On another note I have a custy that is trying to sell a mint Kelly Rigid 29er SS MTB frameset that is their M/L size. MSG me if interested.

Nerdsgirth at the lookout in Gatineau park. A crappy photo but an amazing ride day.

In a slight change of pace from the above unpleasantness, I rode a century on my singlespeed this weekend! Road up to Belfountain and went through the Forks of the Credit area and the Caledon Badlands. Came home down Mississauga Rd. and then along the lake. Riding goal = met. Now to build for a double metric.

What is the best way to get to Mississauga Rd along the Lakeshore?

That sounds like a great ride, Belfountain is beautiful, especially the park they have there.

We were on a bunch of interconnected paths on the way back. I honestly couldn't retrace the route off the top of my head. I'll ask around though and see if I can get you the info. At Port Credit you end up on Lakeshore and then you just turn where Gears (bike shop) is.

Who knew your DL would be suspended if you failed to pay a cycling ticket on time? What about cyclists with no DL? This sounds like a weird/unfair application of the law. I was always under the impression that something had to be fairly applicable across the board. hmmmm legal things ... something to find a lawyer about...after I pay the fine and hve it reinstated. This seems on par with demanding you have a DL to ride. so..... NEVER LEAVE THE HOUSE WITH YOUR DL WHILE RIDING!!!!!

Fixed.

Never let them have yer DL # when you are being ticketed for a moving violation on yer bike. It is the DL# that gets you in trouble. Use anything else....I have taken to only carrying my racing license on me when riding. The last time I got pulled over the cop asked if had a DL...I said yes...he asked to see it...I said no and provided him with my Health card instead. When he asked me why I wouldn't produce my DL I told him that #1...I don't require a DL to ride my bicycle and #2 that I didn't like spending my day at Old City Hall asking a JP to remove the erroneous point reductions from my DL. Bottom line is use ANYTHING but a DL!

If that ticket was for a moving violation $10 says you lost demerit points.

He saw it in my wallet as I was going for the OHIP card and the bastid insisted, in the nicely of LEO manners. Just don;t leave tyhe house with it, and he can't snag it. The guy at City O Toronto told me "oh yea I see it all the time DL's suspended for failing to pay a bike ticket in a timely manner." Just doesn't seem right/just from a legal stand point. I could be waaaay wrong but it seems that 2 sets of rules/punishments for those that do /don't have a DL. I wonder how I would about looking into this after the fact b/c I do neeeeed to drive this weekend to NYC.

The more I think about it the more it seems this is a flagrant slap to the face of how I thought the law worked.

Okay, that would be great, thanks.

Where does Campy Veloce fall in the Campy lineup? Is it about the 105 level?

jet: Mississauga Rd goes right down to the Lakeshore, it's just after the main Port Credit harbour bridge, IIRC - but I've only taken it as far north as Burnhamthorpe (ie, not far).

Sucks re: the DL situation TJ, hard to argue with an officer I guess - more importantly, I think you're right in that it's an unfair application of the law - I'd be interested to know what happens there... I don't know how helpful they are/can be, but the "ARC" guys have at least some legal avenues for cyclists that might be able to help you. link here

The lady in the Provincal office said she thought them's without a DL got put on a "pay if you wanna play" list, whereas, someone with a DL gets it suspended. Doesn't carry water well in my mind, not all cyclists even WANT DL's. Surely SOMEONE must have had this happen before and contested it.

AND two completely opposed answers from the City of Garbage Office... nothing like being clear on a point of law.
