If you bike your garbage to the transfer stations you will NOT wait, unlike autos which can be made to wait. Three bags MAX .. double bagged. Organics and regular trash, mix 'em for now.... they don't want your recycling. They were very impressed with the BOB trailer, I think I'm going to look into the supposed Chinese knock off.

Oh, forget the trailer! Time to get into some bungee cords, a rack, and possibly a fine, fine Sealtest crate.

Sure. if you want to ride around with your heavy smelly drippy organic waste hanging above your back wheel right behind you, one bag at a time, feel free knock yourself out. Sounds like a disaster in the making.

I appreciate the ability to drop off trash, but in a month I have a LOT of recycling. I guess they can't handle both, but it would be nice to have some place for that to go

Have you been cutting it up into little manageable pieces? My bin is about full so I will have to do that to create more room in the bin.

i did a little more digging vis a vis the cargo/kid bike thing and i discovered a shop in portland (where else!?) that custom builds long johns on chinese-made frames so the cost isn't ludicrous. as a bonus they deal with curbside and will ship a bike directly to them for assembly etc. if i can save enough pennies (and the wife allows it) i'm seriously considering it.

the price was around $1300 us plus about $300 for shipping but we're looking into cheaper options via fed ex. portland....oregon; bike mecca, usa.

It would be worth maybe setting up a group trip out to London to ride the track. Maybe we can all get discounts on 15T cogs for the trip too

Just a matter of getting people interested in going, I guess... Wednesdays seemed like a good day - could always just meet at Lake Devo (around ~8?) as per the old DSR rides anyway.

Anyone else interested?
I'm down like chinatown.

Also I'm doing the Amsterdam big wheel bike club thing tomorrow if anyone is interested in coming out. Guided group ride (probably a mellow pace), free barbecue and beer afterwards. 11am at the amsterdam brewery. I'll be on the Orange MASI, black helmet and bad haircut if anyone goes out.

I think bike rental is included in whatever it costs to take track 1, so you're probably best to ride the rental than use your own bike.

Someone on here organized a trip out there for some people last year or the year before, i forget who, but i'm sure they can provide the info.

I think is $30 for track 1 with the bike rental, and $20 for the bike it you go just to ride. Well worth the trip.

Renting is the way to go. Until you are an expert, always lean towards potentially wrecking their gear as opposed to yours, and transportation becomes waaaaaay easier. Thia applies to skiing and snowboarding as well. I used to bring skis back to the rental area completely thrashed.

IIRC, you're only allowed to rent a few times before you are expected to have your own bike. They have space for members to leave their bikes at the track during the winter months (or all the time if you like). I did track 1 over a year ago, but want to redo it soon so I feel more confident in other training sessions starting this fall.

Keith, I just called CS to see if they had any extra cardboard bike boxes and was told they just got a new shipment of bikes in that haven't been built up but should be in the next day or two. Would you mind throwing a box to the side for me? I'd likely pick it up Thursday night.

It's less than two weeks before Shapelike's chicken thighs hit the road to Montreal in the Friends for Life Ride. Cash in those beer bottles and pledge your support to help out people living with HIV/AIDs. Every little bit helps.

Excellent. Considering my bike isn't a real track bike anyway (MASI fixed) that's pretty much ideal.

You didn't show off your legs?

There is no try, only do!

Assuming I can make it, I'd love to try Track 1, too.

Yeah, fall off your bike in a spectacular fashion in front of her and she can't help but notice you. Works like a charm

Rather than Gina Grain, you're likely to get the weekend warrior mom. "Come here, you poor lad. Let me comfort you with my gelatinous mass". She takes you home to nurse you back to health, then...
