You can gleen enough of the course from that map? Have you ridden Centennial before?

Well, not the fine details.. but at least I know how it starts, where the climbs are on the course, etc. Then with a lap or two of pre-riding as Mike said, we're usually good to go.

TRaffic Jammer 11-07-07 09:49 AM

Cool .. you can get all you need from a couple pre-laps? Personally, I guess this is the analyst in me, I'd be there so I might get intimate with the course... gear selections, corner apexes, committing it to memory. Only because the opportunity to ekk out a slight possible advantage is there. Dang I wish I could run with you guys this weekend.

somnambulant 11-07-07 09:53 AM

Yeah, the courses are pretty short though so you can get quite a bit of info from 1 or 2 laps. Plus at this stage of my competitive career I'm not too concerned by gaining/losing a few seconds... with only 10 people or so in S3/4 there are usually several minutes between racers in the end.

I can't remember if you said already, but why can't you make it out? Lack of a bike?

TRaffic Jammer 11-07-07 10:10 AM

I've not manged to get the bike setup for this, not do I really have the bucks this weekend. We've had a few hectic weeks at home and are going to chill I think. I MAY be attempting to see my buddies' band reunion show in Montréal next weekend, and that'll require some duckets as well.

Danhalen 11-07-07 12:49 PM

Wesley: What's the info for your band's show? There's one this thursday (tomorrow) right? Is there another one coming up?

Flimflam 11-07-07 03:10 PM

Had to pick up some new brakepads today. Salmon Koolstop Eagle 2 or some such.

Yeah, that's all.

PS. **** the wind. :(

iherald 11-07-07 03:30 PM

Are Koolstop brake pads better than Shimano? I have the Ultegra/Durace pads on my bike now and they're pretty good, but it's always good to know what I should be buying next time

shapelike 11-07-07 03:39 PM

Koolstop salmon pads are "all that" in my opinion.

Kool-Stop generally improve the performance of any side-pull brake. That said the high-end Shimano pads are pretty good as well but tend to cost more than after market pads. Swisstop (sp?) are the shiz tho. The few guys I know who are using them swear by their excellent performance and extra-long wear. $$$ tho.
For winter abuse just buy the cheapest replacement you can find...then replace em often.

Yeah, tomorrow night @ Lee's Palace ($5). We're supposed to be the 2nd band on, starting at 10:15.. but apparently the 1st band dropped out. Not sure if the schedule will be affected.

Danhalen 11-07-07 04:56 PM

Thanks. I don't always check my Facebook invites. I had actually seen yours but I forgot about it. If you guys play at 10:15 I'll most likely be there. If earlier, then I don't know... I'll see what I can do. I want to go for sure. ROCK AND ROLL

somnambulant 11-07-07 04:59 PM

woo! yeah! rock!

So, anyone up for a ride out to the cx race on Saturday morning, check out the races for a while and then go grab some foodbeer someplace (perhaps fish 'n chips)?

DrBenway 11-07-07 06:09 PM

Oh it's on. Lo -2. Wind chill not included.

Report cards due tomorrow, most likely no racing for me tonight.

Wes, I might be able to make it for tomorrows show after catering.

cavit8 11-07-07 07:46 PM

Hey op, are you still selling your aerobars and if so, what's the clamp size?

pyze-guy 11-07-07 07:49 PM

My son peed on me.

sweep242 11-07-07 07:55 PM

Mine peed on the couch this morning; it’s what parenthood it all about.

duppy.conqueror 11-07-07 07:56 PM

Well it's a great light for the price (where else are you going to get waterpoof 4xAA 200L light for $99USD) but it's just not bright enough for me. On completley unlit paths, it's great up till around 25kph. But on the streets it's washed out by the streetlights. And the whole reason I wanted it was to be able to see between the lights. For the price however, it still beats the MEC Nitehawk K2 emitters - $200 for 3w LED? No thanks.

So next up for me is the 13w HID system from batteryspace ($200). Supposedly 740-750lumens. Which is brighter than the Dinotte 600L ($399USD). I'm just really picky with my lights. I need something with long runtime, non proprietary battery, not heavy and super bright = $$$.

Koolstops are the only pads you ever need to buy, they're like $10. The best! And it also comes in cool wet weather red pads which matches my frame colour.

I don't have them anymore, but the profile centuries have a shim to 26.0 bars and nonshimmed 31.8. I can get you a good deal on a profile basebar & carbon aerobars (< $50). Pm me if you're interested.

jeremywhitehorn 11-08-07 12:01 AM

all this talk of pee - someone should issue new fathers a rubber apron or something...

Danhalen 11-08-07 12:07 AM

Wes: I can come tomorrow for sure! If you are going to be on earlier what time would that be? 9:15? I don't want to miss it. Will you know ahead of time what the schedule will be? I will write another sentence in the form of a question to make it an even number of questions?

somnambulant 11-08-07 06:21 AM

I'm fairly sure our start time shouldn't change. If I find out anything different I'll post it here.

TRaffic Jammer 11-08-07 07:14 AM

So watching BT this morning and seeing the CX stuff on TV I mention this is where the guys are racing this weekend. "So why aren't you?", says she. "Me?", says I.

So...at the last minute. Who can i contact when I get to the office about how much it cost to run? What day would I be racing in the old and slow, Cat nOOb? Keith would it be possible to tech the TBL? Dang I still don't have a 22 in the back. 44x18.

It's $30 if you pre-register here: http://www.integratedsports.net/oca/...gistration.asp. $50 if you register at the event. All the slacker races are just being held on Sunday morning @ 10:00, including myself & Mike in S3/4 and Keith in M3. There's also a "beginner m&f" race, but I'm not sure if that's just for kiddies or not.

However you may want to contact the commisaire, Craig, at cfagan@sympatico.ca to confirm that one-day licenses will 100% be available before you pre-reg. Although I think Keith may have confirmed this already..?

Friends/other peoples kids are cute. I plan to keep it that way.
