Anyone know if Chippy's is any good? (Queen/Strachan) I've been told it's good, but never been. I'd love to try, though I'd be obligated to bring my family along to sample/compare :p

British Style at Dundas and Coxwell is awesome. I used to go to Reliable but British Style is soooo much better. Chippy's was good when they were new and 1 location....the last few times I went there it was very average. Duckworth's out on Kingston Rd. is also awesome. Have to try this place on Broadview.

I sent her Wes' post and she's ... mm one day .

A very wise person is yer wife. ;)

TRaffic Jammer 11-06-07 12:56 PM

double date Keith?
Cane Creek got back to me and those funky hubs aren't for sale except in the wheelset.

Is she ever Keith ... somehow managed to keep me alive all these years, and still she's sane. Awesome woman.

Mmmmmmm....Caz's. I miss that place. I used to get their "Hungry Sailor" or some such name...fish..scallops and shrimps with chips. Hope yer hungry.:p
I meant to add also that a yummy creamy coleslaw is a prerequisite to being a good fish and chips joint in my book. British style has the best slaw in a take-out joint next to The Real Jerk.....mmmmm Roti and slaw.

I_bRAD 11-06-07 01:16 PM

caz's = good. I used to get them when I lived up that way.

Harbord fish and chips was pretty good most of the times I've been there too.

Sweet potato fiber is never out of style. I would like to check out the new chip shop on augusta across from the park as well. I found harbord super heavy on the overcooked batter.

For a second I totally did! Or at least thought that they'd nabbed him thinking that he was the guy... totally nuts! I think it's amazing but at the same time I think news outlets need to be more careful about what they imply when they chose a photo like that.

jet sanchEz 11-06-07 03:53 PM

There used to be a place at Jones and Gerrard that had excellent excellent fish 'n chips, so good that I used to drive across the city for them. It was right by the park there and run by an older asian couple....I think their secret to perfect fish 'n chips was never changing the oil, mmmmmmmmm, so good.

I agree.. The first time I ate their it was pretty good, but I've actually found it getting nastier and nastier. The last couple times kind of put me off of it for good.

I was wondering about that place. Might be a Newfie shop as one of the main streets in downtown St. John's is called Duckworth St.

This track kills me: http://www.last.fm/music/Handsome+Bo...Modeling+Sucks. Great album. Last.fm's "neighbourhood radio" has been treating me well this afternoon... Rocking out to Kyuss right now. \m/

Yes. Thanks!

P.S One of the guys who got stabbed is one of my bikechains mechs friend. He said that apparently he (the driver) might've either cut him off or something at College & McCaul and the guy on the bike blocked him with his bike - fight ensues and then he just starts stabbing people.

Apparently it was 2 people that got stabbed (or was it 3) not 1 or 0 or 4.

P.P.S Does anyone want to buy a Dinotte 200L (5W LED) light for $135 (that's what I paid for it). Used exactly twice.

Where are you hanging out these days? Are you staying home pretty much, coming down to the city? If you're up in the "Hill" do you want company? I can bring things. Like movies etc. And maybe other people. The possibilities are endless!

Hehe thanks Dan, i'm already back to work (since accident day +3). Find me there for some lunchies!

You no like?

Herbie_Glick 11-06-07 07:37 PM

I grew up going to Duckworth's, so as biased as I am; the place rocks! haha

Danhalen 11-06-07 08:59 PM

You know what else rocks? Def Leppard's 'Pyromania'. Oh yeah. Listening to it now. :bday:

I_bRAD 11-06-07 09:06 PM

I concur.

I'd be interested in hearing this too.

jeremywhitehorn 11-06-07 10:12 PM

as for the F&C debate, there is a place in scarborough called st. andrew's fish and chips that my scottish in-laws swear by. Irn-bru, mushy peas and everything...

Gas.Face 11-07-07 01:17 AM

Im pretty sure i went to high school around the corner from fish and chip place...its on the corner of brimley and brimorton if my memory serves me correctly.

duppy.conqueror 11-07-07 06:07 AM

I lost my iro head badge *sniff sniff*
:(
I like the fish and chips that comes in the newspaper...it aint real fish and chips if theres no newspaper wrapping!

YouTube clip of the shootout from Hot Fuzz (9min). Enjoy:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ORcC5sWSu-E

If you haven't seen it, it's by the guys who did Shaun of the Dead. This one's basically a send up of every cop movie (and a few westerns) ever made.

Edit: Includes single speed/door prize content, so it's almost relevant too.

blue 56cm Ridley Crossbow for sale.. $450.

http://www.cyclocrossontario.com/node/553

edit: as stated below, Ridley's tend to feel quite large.

TRaffic Jammer 11-07-07 08:58 AM

54/53cm please and thankyou ... does one go slightly smaller for a cross ride similar to fitting a track frame? 450? dang

Wes/Mike/Keith did you see the posting on that site about looking for help marking out the course? hmmm slight course knowledge ahead of time? :)

TJ, w/ the Ridleys the sizing is ka-raaazy (TM). The bb's are really high, the seat tubes are really long. A lot of guys w/ stubby legs can end up w/ bikes they can't stand over if they're not careful. Definitely check the gemetry info and compare against your current bike if you're ever considering one.

As for prior course knowledge, normally we try to show up ahead of time and get a test lap or two in. It's not much, but it gives us a chance to figure out where the cluster****s are going to be (generally).

The courses are already available in the technical guide.. Pages 7 & 8, if you're curious. http://www.midweekclub.ca/Centennial_CX_TechGuide.pdf

I'm kind of disappointed the spiral 'o death is only in the Saturday race. That Sunday course looks like it's gonna be crazy fast... lots of gravel. Well, other than the section on the ski hill.. ugh, that's gonna hurt!
