In Firefox, type about:config in the address bar. Search for "keyword" (by typing it in the filter box). Set keyword.enabled to false, or change keyword.URL to something (presumably less) offensive.

It does essentially, once you've plotted your route it plots the elevation for each point as well. Stridemaps does it too. It is kinda hard to plan a route if you don't already know where the hills are though. It would be nice to have a filter you could add showing contours since they're obviously already included in the data.

Elevation data ≠ Contour lines. :)

FWIW, I've looked for contour maps for the area before, and wasn't too successful.. I forget what the scale was, but the contour lines were every 100m or so.. not very detailed for the area.

Does anyone know of any really good shots of the sweet designer rides at La Carrera? I took a few photos but they suck, was trying to refer my budday to a link of some good photos, wanted to know if better looking than his pos (gag) and thinks I don't appreciate bike beauty just cause he has an ugly bike...

At least all the race drama didn't prevent the party from being fun, especially with the out of towners that were there. The collaboration is what rocked about that whole program, I mean really, Futura, Stash, Colnago, United Front & Lowdown? Then Red Bull with the BullRun? we need more such collaborations, keeps things spicy.

Since we are talking about Firefox (and I am a new user to it) is there a way to block ads on a website? For example, the ones here on Bikeforums? I actually like these ads and always find myself clicking on the Bikesdirect one too see what is new there but I have some other sites that I frequent that have similar border ads to these ones and they can get annoying.

God, I'd love to perm-block anything Party Poker related ...

Also, I just trimmed the "beard" (first attempt ever) ... this thing is shaping up to be quite the horror show. Hopefully by Giftmas it'll be grown in enough to really terrify the friends + family back home.

I was growing out a beard for a month or so but gave up as the itchiness was really getting to me. How do you get past this? Maybe I have dry skin or something.

ya buncha beardos!

Uncle Wesley's Training Tip #1: Haul someone (*cough*nerdsgirth*cough*) around on a skateboard for a while so that once you're riding with only your own weight to deal with you'll feel light as a feather. Or I guess just save the race bike and/or wheels for race day. :)

I actually didn't notice any bad itching. That being said, I haven't used a razor on my face in years (it was too much of a hassle). I think there was maybe a year or two once I started needing to use one that I actually did ... since then I've been using clippers on the shortest setting to maintain perma-stubble. I got lazy one week awhile back and thought I'd give the ol' beardy look a try with winter coming up quick. That and obviously to prove that I am man.

Hahahaha, that made me lol.

Itchiness in beards I find goes away after a week or two, it's just hell while it itches. The more you grow it out (as in, more often from clean to beard) it seems to decrease for me. I shaved my full beard off on Saturday and I think I'll grow it in again, perhaps taking a bit more care of the grooming this time around (my electric shaver isn't too great, any tips?). I've usually always wet-shaved once a week or more, so the electric shaver/beard thing is somewhat new to me barring periods of laziness.

picky, picky. What I'm saying is that if the elevation data is there, it's not too hard to generate the contours! You'd have to have a pretty fine resolution though, for example: the hill in the beaches is only ~50m high. Plenty big by bike standards (around here anyhow) but not so big by map standards.

Hey Dan... Just wanted to say thanks again for hooking me up with Ricardo. Day 1 of bathroom reno has been great so far. Removal of disgusting gross bathroom FTW!

No worries! Glad to hear it! Tell him hi. Super nice guy.

Keeping it off your neck helps a lot. Shave below your jaw line for a sharper looking barbe and less itching.

Foo, thanks: tried that with no joy. It's very odd. I can just add to my hosts file, but I'm trying to figure out what the heck I clicked for this to be happening.

Oh yes, I remember her.
