It's a good one (east to west)

If I'm doing a single speed, with a bmx type freewheel in the back, and I use a 1/8 chain?

Specifically: KMC Coaster Brake Chain, Black 1/2 x 1/8 x112 (not that I know what those numbers mean)

i would say a 1/8" chain is no problem. my best guess at the numbers are 1/2: distance between the bushings (the "pitch"), 1/8: chain width, 112: # of links?

what kind of thing are you building?

I bought an old raleigh 12 speed on CL and I've painted it, and will make a pretty simple conversion to make it a bit better to lock up around the city (rather than my carbon Devinci).

yup - simpler the better. although it wouldn't rust, i'd be apprehensive about locking up carbon.

You can get BMX freewheels in 3/32 too, so you don't need to go 1/8th if you don't want to.
