I know the beer talk distracted you, but I asked a question goddamnit. :P

I was thinking about coming out for Saturday and/or Sunday, but now I have nasty bursitis in my elbow so I'm not sure anymore. They're doing a cross clinic at Hardwood on Saturday that myself and Mike were hoping to do.

Hmm... If I'm not mistaken, when I was in yesterday they had the Sylvan Track pedals, just not the GR-9s. Did you look in the back room in the display case? I think I saw them in the case to the VERRRY far left. You might want to call and ask before you head back out there, though.
the only pedals i saw were hanging on the wall by the toe clips....i guess im an idiot....im gonna checkout curbside tommorrow since its closer to my school....if they dont have em i'll take a stroll down to urbane again.

Jeez....call the Waaaaaaaaambulance. I will not be going on Saturday. Unsure just now about Sunday even....I have some matters that require my attention. The cross clinic would be a waste of time for me. The only thing that they will show you guys that you already don't have a handle on is dis-mount and re-mounting....pretty simple really. I sat around for most of the clinic 3 years ago because of all the people that had no handle on off-camber or dis-mount. I am not sure how much you will get out of it...Mike has been on his bike on the trails enuf to prolly not get too much out of it as well.

re: Hardwood lessons, I agree with Keith

I took the "advanced mountain biking" course there 5-6 years ago and it basically worked out to a $100 group ride. 2 or 3 of us ended up splitting from the group with one of the instructors and basically just rode all day. Probably only worth it if you've got zero experience.

muahahhah. :D

Yeah, I was thinking of going mostly just for something to do. Although with my elbow the way it is, I think taking it easy is probably the best idea!

jeremywhitehorn 09-11-07 10:57 AM

i always thought cycling skills were something that you learned on your own...

somnambulant 09-11-07 11:29 AM

Everything I know I learned through the VelonewsTV How-To channel.. ;)

Not really, but the cyclocross ones had some small bits that were new to me.

To whom it may concern: after much deliberation I have decided that I also believe that pie is superior to cake.

On a serious(er?) note: Keith I just realized while cleaning my apartment that I have my saddle/seatpost, scewers and pedals here. Should I bring them to you in anticipation of the arrival of my bike?

I always find it sad when Canadian atheletes have to basically resort to begging and bake sales.

I would drop-kick a nun for a slice of homemade Strawberry-Rhubarb pie.

Throw em in yer bag when we meet up for Cakepiebeer and I will take em from you. Oh wait....just realized you prolly arent carrying a bag these days....whatever works for you.

SamHouston 09-11-07 12:59 PM

damn so these cats are repping Canada and don't have regular/sufficient funding to actually get to events? Weak! Imma give em some money when next someone paypals me, and maybe put their links on our website.

See those wanting to compete in the Madison are 48G+ short of what they need to get to these competitions...and after Canada got such props for gold on the track last time..

anyone play polo here regularly that wants to test these puppys out?

I believe there was supposed to be polo at Trinity Bellwoods this past Sunday but that the weather caused people to shy away, which means there may be polo same place but Thursday night, don't listen to my scuttlebutt though, check here regular- - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2251962807

Halloween Race? Well seeing as no-one has announced a race on Halloween yet your guess is as good as mine. If past race announcments hold true expect it about a week before the event. Nadir is doing something on the 23rd weekend I think. Not sure if this is a "Halloween' race or not....a week and a half before Halloween doesn't seem right.

I know past halloween races in Toronto have been on halloween. NY's has a race planned for the saturday before. i'll check with you guys next month since i don't know any bike people in toronto. thanks.

The SSWC's are gonna be in NorCal next year. Who's in? You've got roughly a year to get a SS mtn bike together and start cross-training (ie. drinking).

yeah, i just read about this year's in scotland. i've always wanted to go to one of these but could never get it together. plus i don't really "mountain bike" but that hardly seems like a problem given the all inclusive fun environment of these things. reminds me of what the beginnings of mountainbiking must have been like...

jeremywhitehorn 09-11-07 02:36 PM

plus - for the crafty, DIYers amongs us: do you know if craft stores or fabric stores would sell seat belt buckles, or where i can buy one? i want to make a belt for my hip pouch...

Last years was on Halloween....they usually are. Nadir and Johnny Jetfuel did it last year but that was the 20th anniversary..so a bit of a special occasion. if I hear about any details I will let ya know.
