Haha! Don is awsome! has been a real inspiration for me to get out of just cycling casually and start training to compete (for next year), mostly to stay fit. He tells me if you dont have the fear of looking like an ass in a race you wont force your self out of bed early everyday to ride.

i am hoping to make the next race to shoot and watch.

Oh God Someone is actually using the sperm rims (and has a matching fork): http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2007...AdamPelzer.htm

TRaffic Jammer 10-09-07 09:31 AM

He even went so far as to use the negative sperm on his fork. Ewww. He works for Velocity..I wonder if EVERY employee has been given a free set of SpermV's(tm) in order to try and convince the world they are super cool instead of laughable. Please send your bike to me, where it will be given a good home, some drop bars and taken out and run with the wild bikes at least a couple times a week.

Danhalen 10-09-07 09:48 AM

Thanks for the pass K-Fresh. If the rain stops I'll be in today. Otherwise maybe tomorrow. Oh hell I should just come today. I'm so lazy. I will hopefully be working in some capacity in the next couple of weeks though yay!

Ecchhh....that thing is hideous...the comfort hybrid of fixies if there ever was one. We can only hope it doesnt reproduce.

Make sure you guys come and visit me at the Cycle Solutions booth on Saturday...

Gonna be a long day, hopefully I'll be able to sneak off for a bit to find some deals. :D

Tyler M 10-09-07 09:56 AM

Is it possible to join early at the doors of the sale if I don't have a free pass? I know admission is $5 -- does that mean without one of these magical tickets I might be in line forever waiting to get in?

Anyway I'd like to watch the race on Sunday, too. I've never seen cyclocross in action. What time does it start?

TRaffic Jammer 10-09-07 09:58 AM

We all lined up last year if I remember correctly, them's with passes, tickets and those purchasing on the spot.
Rush the doors throwing your pass at them as you jump the table..

*is ashamed to say he thinks the rims would be awsome, if only for the reactions of people*

Oh, and I forgot to say that I race Senior 3/4 and Cavernmech races Master 3... so we'd both be doing the 10:00 start.

shapelike 10-09-07 11:36 AM

Yay, me - the practice this morning in piss-drizzle actually went quite well. I've definitely got to do something about the gearing on this bike (currently 52/39, 12-25 9sp) but due to my non-budget I think the only option is to throw a 12-27 on there and continue hanging out in the small ring (maybe then I can ride it like a 6sp instead of it's current 4sp usage).

I am running 12-27 w 39...it has been o.k. but I prefer something lighter. 25 is gonna be a be-atch. I didn't even hit the big ring in the super fast gravel sections on Sunday. 39-27 is good low wise...high gear wont be an issue.

Mike races 3/4 also. Johnny is coming to race with me in M3 as is Doug who was there on Sunday. Should be a good one.

This the kind of grind I felt going up a hill in the Don valley on 48/28 with the trailer behind me? Yeah.. that was stupidity ;) Needless to say I went up Pottery Rd. on my granny cog (28/28 I think :p) with that load - 6-7km/h all the way, but I made it :)

I think I saw "Simone" from the messengers video today, the girl who religiously maintained her chain and seemed just generally hardcore. Cool to start to recognise faces on the street.

So giddy I have my roadie back, big thanks there K. Picked up a Conti Ultra Sport from MEC on the way back to the office so I can throw that on there. Riding platforms on a bike I'm so used to riding clipped in is very strange, but kinda cool in a way.

pyze-guy 10-09-07 12:31 PM

I like the early morning meet up for the show. What time are peoples thinking to meet at the doors? I think for me this is going to be a what can I get for $10 day. Diapers cost money and I really don't need anything for the bike.

Keith, are you going to get that wheel done before you close up for good?

Also what time/place are we thinking for critical glace tonight. I don't think I will be able to make it, but if I can I don't want to miss you all.

cavit8 10-09-07 12:55 PM

I'm up for meeting at the doors too. And operator, the film is Nasu: Summer in Andalusia http://www.nasu-summer.com/

I did a couple of 100m hills this weekend with 40ish lbs of gear and 38x21. Pretty much walking speed! A granny gear, or at least a bigger range than 11-21 would be nice!

It's always fun when you think "nah, that's just an optical illusion 'cause of the trees and clouds"... and then you see a car continue to drive straight up into the clouds proving yourself wrong.

MattRennick 10-09-07 03:05 PM

i'll be heading over to the bike show first thing as well given that i live about 3 seconds away... what time are doors? anyone? beuller? anyone?

32flavours 10-09-07 03:10 PM

Critical Glace...

Har hardy har. As much as it pains me to say this, I'm wondering if we could postpone till tomorrow. I was up at 630 today to haul ass out to UTSC for tutorial teachin' and am tired as all heck.

Whatever happens, we should definitely try to get out to Dolce Gelato, where all happiness resides.
