Heheh, I rode my Ciocc up Keele past the 401 today and there was snow up there! I couldn't believe it and would have ridden the bike with fenders if I had known it was going to be like that. The people in cars looked at me as if I were some sort of alien-being---"A guy on a bike in November?!"---and I didn't bump into one other single rider until I was back in Parkdale. Freaky

All this talk of lights got me to thinking about battery solutions. i found a light at MEC and bought it: it's a 3 LED light run on a wind-up generator. you have to wind it for about five minutes to get about a 40 minute charge. other than kludgy mounting hardware it works fine.

Yeah, the amount of snow up at Albion last Sunday was a bit of a surprise too.
ps. had a 1/2 flat tire this morning. Didn't realize until I was already around the corner. I passed 4 bike shops (Velotech, Bike Clinic, Bike Joint & La Carrera) and none were open. For shame!

Around 8:45.. and yeah, I guess I'm still in the Summer mindset of seeing Derek (and/or Brad!) + Vinnie outside their shops when I ride by.

The race I'm planning on doing on Sunday should be interesting..
"At this point it appears that the final race on Dec. 2 is still a go, but please check for further updates. The current forecast is not very favourable. At the very least, we will not be using the hill to avoid bicycle-toboggan collisions. "
Ottawa forecast:
Sunday: Snow. Low minus 14. High minus 4.

What a day to have to ride up north, and reading that there's snow still up there makes me feel awesome (feck arse girls). Ho hum, should be fun nonetheless... Anyone want to ride north a long way this afternoon?
I must've got there around 9:45/10 and only saw people up on Queen and on Strachan (about 4 in total nobody I recognised to know) heading away from the scene - I wasn't sure how many would show but figured it's on my way home anyway.
Call me The Breeze
We still open at 8:30, We're maybe just a little better at fixing bikes then getting to the shop on time! (It's Derek's day today so I'm off the hook)

i was thinking about this ROM bomb-scare thing: perhaps a guerrilla performance/installation art piece?

The explosion part of the video was pretty well done I thought. Of course the guy posted it on youtube from his own account so I'd expect the guy (an OCAD student) is probably at the station by now.
This reminds me of that story from a while back where someone had a sticker of a local punk band- "This bike is a pipe bomb" on their bike... and well you can figure out how that played out.
Too bad they blew (pun not intended) all that money last week staging a mock terrorist incident when they could have got an OCAD student to set it up for them for free!

yeah, i was about to mention that - in fact when i first heard about the story on here i assumed that the bike pipe bomb was making a comeback.

Bikes just don't explode like they used to. All those CF lightweight goodies look good in the ads, but when they explode the shrapnel is so light that you might as well have just thrown a handful of monopoly houses at someone.

AAaAGHgh! The doctor said I'm not supposed to get Monopoly houses in my eye!
ps. I'm honestly depressed that 'cross season is ending. That was a LOT of fun.

Yeah generally Nadir and crew are already there when I show up a lil before 9p. When I got there lastnight, no one in sight. I practiced backwards circles for about 10 minutes when Pyze showed, but alas two is not enough to get the sprints going. We hung for another 10 - 15 and headed out. We saw one person who looked like they might be going over but they skipped the red across lakeshore and we missed them figuring another 1 person still wasn't enough.
No worries, the way I see it is I get a decent night ride in once a week. It's also my fault for not getting the word out earlier. That being said, I will do my best to update both on here and the FB group before 5 but unless we post a cancellation - which will only likely happen in wet/icy dangerous weather.
It was also good inspiration to get the damn site done that everyone could just refer to for updates on everything!
