I'm definitely looking forward to the ride home tonight - I just threw some new cross tires on my winterbike and riding on the bare pavement this morning was no fun. I want to be faced with some serious stuff on the ground now just to justify the purchase!!!

gokiburi 12-13-07 01:54 PM

suggestions on how i can rig this into a bike trailer?

o rly? I was actually surprised at how fine my cx tires were on the pavement.. then again, it was also on a geared bike that I've never ridden with smooth tires, so I don't really have any comparison! :) But they're pretty aggressively knobbed (that's what she said) tires -- Michelin Muds.

MattRennick 12-13-07 02:44 PM

Oh man...

Hahaha, that's what she said.

These are pretty damn knobby and I'm not sure how I feel about that but at 1/2 off I just couldn't turn them down. I'm going to go broke saving money!!!

Those are Hutchinsons from MEC?

hmmm.. not sure whether to take College or Harbord home in the slop.

From Curbside - but they may have the same ones at MEC...

Take Harbord - at least you'll have a bike lane to dodge parked cars in. ;)

8 Grand....
he did get beat up in high school, and now he's exacting his revenge.

You're an aggressive knob.

And I think Eoin needs to pay the rent. And the 1-900 bill.

ps Plus shipping???

TRaffic Jammer 12-13-07 03:44 PM

Just beware as to how the knobs aren't staggered. This could allow the whole tire to slide to the side once it loses a bit of grip..

Hehehehehehe you said knob and grip.

About to head out, can't see what King is like from my window, I'm assuming it's not all so bad.

I'd take Harbord, probably less hectic than College, and once the bikelane ends on College I can't help but sometimes feel "iffy" on there.

I might head east tonight, but I'm going home first... Brant/Augusta are usually my side-street testers on my way up to Queen.

Watch out for those grids/covers!

HAHAHAHAHA. Man I forgot how bad that thing is. It looks like ****! So let's see. In the description he indirectly comments on why people think it's **** (wrong front wheel size, ****ty cranks etc.) and says he will fix it up. But in the mean time you can still get the current ****ty version for $8000! Classic! haha. With regards to the front wheel size, instead of moving up to 650, he should just go all out and put a BMX wheel on the front for the ultimate saddle to bar drop. It will be way more comfortable like that too obviously.

I went for a lovely ride at lunch today! Woo what a blast. Ridiculous headwind. Eyewear was a must for sure...

Geeez, he has gone off the deep-end, hasn't he? Sure, I will happily give a guy who cannot spell easy words correctly (and who hasn't the sense to run a spell-checker) 8 grand for a crappy bike. And yes, I want to pay for shipping this death-trap to my front door. At least he dreams big....

I will take a brand new "Futura" Master Pista with all Campy Record and have several hundred bucks left over instead. Thanks for the opportunity tho. ;)
P.s. Wil has a Campy equipped Miele road bike he is trying to get rid of. 52cm square...$400. If anyone is interested.

jet sanchEz 12-13-07 08:00 PM

Is the Futura Pista the one that was linked in the photo thread? With all the polka dots? I'd like to see it full-on, does anyone have pics?

Where is a good/cheap place to pick up some rollers? MEC has the TACX ones for $225 but I thought I'd seen them somewhere for cheaper than that....any ideas?

I'll have to stop in to La Carrera and check out the Futura, a friend of mine designed all their show-case cabinets too, apparently they look great.

sr20det 12-14-07 02:19 AM

yea, I'm wondering the exact same thing about rollers... hopefully there's cheaper somewhere in Toronto.

TRaffic Jammer 12-14-07 05:17 AM

I just need a band. Keith, "I'm in!!"

TRaffic Jammer 12-14-07 07:36 AM

Check the Buy and Sell Magazine....I have picked up many sets for cheap over the years. You really have to abuse them badly (how do you do that? I am not sure) to wear them out so used is the way to go. I got my current set for $75.
