Keith has done them, Wes too I think . oh what was the name of the association?.... Starts with "c"... Chico?
EDIT yup! http://www.chicoracing.com/html/index.php Apparently registration is on now!!!! Glad to see the races becoming so popular |
Yeah, the 24-hr races are a tonne of fun. It's a great way to get introduced to mtb racing. Nerdsgirth also does them regularly. I'll definitely be at both of the races next Summer. Hopefully I'll see some more of y'alls there as well!

*raises hand*
I'll be there for some (all?) of them and it's becomming increasingly likely that I'll be rocking a singlespeed 29er. |
Okay, let's settle this once and for all:
"singlespeed" VS. "single speed" Go. |
I've done a couple of the 24hr too. Racing isn't really my thing, but they're good for a laugh every once in a while.
SS |
SS and I'd love to be in there this year.

You figured it be the bestest option?

I always use 'ss' or 'singlespeed', but I imagine 'single speed' is probably the grammatically gooder version of the two options you gave (or perhaps single-speed).

today was worse riding than yesterday cuz all the drivers are like "hey, i can drive like i'm on the highway again because the roads have been plowed"
the new rainpants are perfect for these conditions, although i got sprayed by a car just as i was getting on my bike after work and discovered that between the rubber on my boots and the cuff my pants is not waterproof. glad everyone is safe... if not entirely sound! |

Yeah, I got that vibe today... everyone is realizing that this isn't a winter wonderland, and that the slush and muck sucks. No more "hidee how are ya! thanks for shoveling your snow".
|
I almost always am in the Gore-Tex suit and Sorels when the weather is like this so the idiot car soaking never really get to me. I actually think it gets people angry when I don't. Your reply to said assclown was gold T.J. but I hear ya on the self-disappointment.
I advise all who like camping, beer and riding mtn bikes to do a 24hr....It's like a bike Lollapaluza but without the hippies and overpriced beverages. The most fun I have had racing hands down. Speaking of bike fun... to all who are coming this weekend...we need to sort out the transportation. Can everyone who is in P.M. me yer digits so we can make a plan. |

That's always my prob too.. the bootie to pants-cuff interface is not functioning optimally. :) I either need taller booties or some sort of pants-keeper-downer, like a stirrup. mmm.. that'd make my commuter-nerd gear ever sexier. ;)
ps. yes, "pants-keeper-downer".

ps. TJ: no harm, no foul... "he started it". he was jealous, and then ended up with it coming back in his face, or rather lap. wonder what he had to say to people when he got whever he was going, lol. |
Chris heal up fast!
TJ that was perfect. Don't feel bad. Seriously! Keith I'll give you a call in a bit. |

ps. yes, "pants-keeper-downer". I was getting tooted by a box truck thing, I just waved back - asshat couldn't go anywhere anyway. He did do the "creep along the curb lane a little bit, stop, crawl a bit more, stop, oh, and then decide to actually join traffic flow" thing when I first caught up to him. I hate that. Cabs do it all the time, which is all nice and well usually, but I'm extra leery of hopping tracks in this gack, so I just exercised my saintly patience (which includes calling him a jackass as I ride by his window) :D. |

You guys seem to be having bad commuter luck. Here's my positive story to balance it out:
I decided to take my "normal" route home through the side streets thinking they might be cleared (they weren't) and right at the worst of it as I was blasting through a good 6-8" of heavy rutted slush I hear some guy from his porch call out "way to go brother!" I almost didn't make it through, but when I did, I earned a "woo!" from the same guy. Didn't run into a single aggressive driver all the way home. :) |
Thing that most bothered me about going down was I spilt my coffee all over my pants. What a waste.

Matt I just tried the Sweet Potato soup and it is amazing. To put it another way, if you were a girl and you made this soup for me, I would definitely marry you. Hypothetically speaking of course.
