Unless you have some fancy white (ie. not the slightly yellow or blue stuff I've always used) masking tape that is actually durable, I think I'll stick with my gaffer's tape plan.

Jeremywhitehorn: how's that front rack treatin' you? I'm considering getting a front or rear rack. I love how a nice front rack looks, but I'm concerned with the whole steering/balance thing with weight up front like that.

You missed out Wes! I was in there for about 2 1/2 hours and I saw about 4 other people. Trail conditions were pretty much perfect

Also, It appears I haven't been in there in a while. I found a trail called "Instant gratification" that splits off from catalyst and goes to the doobatorium (somehow without crossing the river?) I think the trail that leads from the doobatorium up towards the chemical plant/science centre is gone now 'cause it looks like they're building something there. I didn't spend too much time looking for it though as that one is pretty tough and I figured it would be a very long, cold wait for someone to find my broken body.

The bridge under the train tracks at the top of the river trail is a nice addition too!

Wow, it is BRISK out there! I went all the way up to Lawrence Square, got a hair cut, then went to Yorkdale to get a stats book from Indigo (Note: people look at you funny when you wear a helmet in Yorkdale), then went to Cycle Solutions in the beaches to check out a crank, and finally, back home. It is really something else out there. Brad, had I read your post before heading out, I would have gladly joined you.

Question to all: how much would you pay for new Ultegra SL cranks which were swapped from a customers bike?

If it's the 2008 model, anything < $200 would be a good deal. Assuming it's brand new. You could probably sell it fast for a bit more locally.

i don't notice any handling issues with a rack as small as the one i have - it mounts from the fender hole to the canti studs so the weight tends to ride a little lower than your typical basket or what have you. nitto makes a similar rack for the rear, or also a rack that can adapt to either front or back. i think rivendell sells it. and yes, it looks a lot better than a big honking rear aluminum rack.

I assume you can still run fenders AND the rack, even though it uses the rack holes, right?

Brad: Yeah, I really want to get out for a mtb ride, actually. I definitely have to get out for one soon. Did you use your winter mtb shoes? Or flat pedals and regular boots?

Not sure if I'll even go outside today, having ridden 75k back and forth on Friday in this darn wind I might take a rest day, though I've been wanting to do another quick jaunt down to Humber Bay Park again... hmm... that and I only just got up from a beautifully long slumber (still dressed, lights were all on and Good Eats seasons 1-10 were playing on shuffle - Alton Brown is great).

i would assume so, you'd just use a longer bolt and attach them both. i like the cetma racks but they seem a bit overkill for most of the stuff i do; that's why i like the nitto rack i have; you can always bolt or zip-tie on a basket or flatbed to it and it works fine and is a bit less cumbersome. FWIW with the basket on i have carries two six packs, some take-out another time, some clothes, etc. it's really handy.

The wolf forks are silly. They have ridiculously thin steerer tubes and so have to have aluminum inserts glued-in instead of a regular star nut. If they aren't glued in properly they break. We spend so much time gluing those things. So annoying. All of that effort for a couple of grams.

I wore my Lake shoes with chemical toe warmers- which made them a tiny bit tight, but I guess the extra heat made up for it. I considered the platforms, but I don't have clips and straps big enough to get around my boots and I couldn't imagine mountain biking without being strapped in somehow. It was actually pretty warm in there once warmed up- I ended up opening up my jacket and switching to thinner gloves after 30mins or so.

Riding a steerer tube that thin sounds downright dangerous. They should just ship the bikes with EC90s.

Hey Does any Know what the least Urbane Will let one of there Urbanite Fixed frames go for, 300$ for frame/fork, Straight gauge seems a bit much to me considering IRO/Spicer and the up an coming 175$ kilo TT frameset, I know they gotta be letting them go for less, Any one got and ideas? thanks

You should come in and have a talk with some of the sales staff. I know the complete bicycles we have on the floor are negotiable. But like you said - they aren't really uber frames or anything like that, especially if you can get something like an IRO or Kilo TT for substantially less.

I wish i wanted my KHS less than i did when i bought it, I just walked in and paid cash full price. Anyways like 2 months later i got hit by a car, And the dent in my frame is now growing, So i'm looking For a Replacement frame, I'm looking for a 50/52cm. So basically i am looking for a frame to transplant my KHS flite stuff to , And not have to worry about thats why i like sound of straight gauge tubing more dent resistant, but 300$ seems a bit much

If you're interested I have an Apollo Cobra frame (1020 double butted, suntour dropouts, no cable-braze-ons) that's 51cm ctc. You can have it if you like. No headset or bottom bracket though.
