I had no idea you could get the waist lowered on pants (can you just get the crotch raised?)
If you find a place that does this for a reasonable amount of money let me know! |

I'm going ot rent some Switchback lights for the 24 hour race at Albion. Does anyone have any experience between say the SB2, with the two lights and SB3?

i just like the integrated bar/stem and the attention to detail in general (like the cable routing through the fork blades).

on a bike (clothing) related note: any of you lads/ladies know of a decent tailor around town? i have a couple pairs of dickies that i want to get made in to floods and the waist lowered on but when i take them to the guy in my neighbourhood he just looks at me funny and asks "..why you want them so short!? you're a tall guy!" better yet would be knowing of a cyclist with sewing machine skills whom i could barter with, etc... Just returned from the Great White North Dog Sled Races TM. What a fantastic time. The races were over 2 days with sprint 4Mi and 6Mi races. 4 had 4 dogs and 6 had 6 dogs and they really motor...we estimated about 25-30 km on the flats. There was also a 40 mile event both days...those teams usually had 8 dogs. The Jamaican team only did sprint races and got 2nd place both days.....the prevalent shout-out for them was "MUSH MON!" I had forgotten what small town life is like....everyone waves at ya when you pass by. Scored large at the community silent auction...with my buddy's daughter hovering over our cherished bids and jumping in with the poach for us at the last minute. Heat and massage lumbar pillow FTW! They are planning a 3 day, 250 mile Iditarod qualifier next year and I will be there with bells on...well actually no bells as they distract the dogs...good thing we asked! Had to stay an extra night as the highway was closed yesterday afternoon...whiteouts. I was terribly bummed to have to stay an extra night. It was -27 without the wind when we woke up this morning. 100kms of hardpack snow driving have me feeling ready for the Amateur Rally Championships. Hey Nerdsgirth....It dawned on me that Wil has a nice Miele with all Campy he has been trying to sell. I am pretty sure you could pick up the bike....strip it for the parts... resell frameset and do very well for yourself. I will talk to him later and see if he still has it. |

Was the race in Haliburton? What's your uncles name Mark? My whole family is from Haliburton - if he grew up there I'd put money on my folks knowing him... |

Call Sam and Anais at UTW. I know she is more than happy to do bike clothing alterations when they are not super busy with bags.

I don't normally think too much about the aesthetics of headsets, but WOW:
http://www.velonews.com/files/images/NAHMBS2008_04.jpg ps. yes, that's mahogany. |
i'm impressed so long as that's not some new "standard".
EDIT: actually, isn't that the $650 headset? i'd want a little flash for that price. perhaps a diamond or two... |

Nothing says "I'm trying too hard" like riding around on a bike like this. It bugs me. I can appreciate the craftsmanship I suppose. Although Brooks Saddle + zero setback seatpost = ridiculously forward saddle position. Doesn't look too comfortable at all. And what's up with that chainring? Not drilled for lightness I would imagine, considering the wood rims. It looks like a steering wheel from a 1970's Firebird. I know I'm like the only one in the world who doesn't like the whole "Vanilla Cycles" esthetic so what do I know.
