Misfit psycles (i think thats how you spell it)... what do you guys think of them?

im looking into buying a 29er SS, and they seem to be in my price range (up to $2000 after tax). I was wondering what else is ridden out there in the way of 29er SS in that price range.

Im waiting for dukes to get them in stock, i talked to someone there on saturday about them and there in shipping.

and my budget could be expanded upon if needed (sadly not enough for a Moots Uno :( )

Had an odd weekend.

Among the highlights, include picking up my IRO. Unable to take one of my eggbeaters off due to rounding in the allen bolt (mostly my own fault). Unable to cut new chain to proper length due to tool malfunction/breakage. Other than that, it's ready to rock sans brakes (which will be going on this week once I pick them up) - I put on my Forte campus pedals, which don't look so bad - I'll buy another set of 'beaters for it though. She looks pretty, I'll post pics once I've got them off the camera.

Haven't had chance to ask next door yet, jer, but will do ASAP.

great 'cross pics, looked like fun (and props to Maki :))

I think they're nice. Peter (the guy who owns/runs the brand) seems to have his head on straight and gave a really good explanation of the bike design when I spoke with him about. I personally like the sliding dropout style that the Misfit bikes use - other people prefer eccentric bottom brackets. They're a local company (Bolton, I think) and I like to support Canadian companies (it also makes for super fast warranty service or if you ever need replacement parts).

Other than that, I'd take a look at Niner (that would be a custom build-up as they don't offer build kits anymore).

Demonoid is back boys and girls. Same ratio as when they went down.

It must have just gone up this weekend, so there is minimal new cycling material

Cycle Solutions beaches has a Kona Kula 2-9 frame in stock (18") at a pretty good price right now, and we could definitely get you a sweet build in your price range. Another one to check out might be the Gary Fisher Rig.......comes with a Fox fork and I think it is still only about $1500......

If you want any feedback on the Kula ask me, or Keith, or the guy I sold mine to........I think we all only have positive things to say (except it isn't a superfly!).

BTW called Kona recently and they still had 19 and 20 inch sizes in stock.....might not be able to match the price on the in stock frame though.

PS I don't know why I look so angry in that shot. I do know that I was angry every time I tried getting into my clips and straps riding over deep, bumpy, rutted corn snow. If anyone racing heard "GET THE F--- IN THERE YOU F---ING WH0RE" yelled really loud during the race I can pretty much guarantee it was me.

Wes has that SBD smirk, so I thought that was what it was.

wth! i leave for ONE weekend and everyone has new bikes and shooz and googley eyes. pfeh!

I finally picked up the rain gear, 25k through the parks to uptown, then another 25 back on teh roads is narsty weather. apart from sodden chucks, that was one of the more comfortable rides ive had in less than perfect weather... still fixed, still brakeless, and still fenderless. im smrt.

and after seeing that gary fisher i think its time to make the horse into an ss. ill come by the races and cheer from a ditch fifteen metres from the starting line while the real racers whip me with reeds for fun, knowing they have plenty of time to catch up.

Awesome.. is it "safe" (i.e. not a tarp?)

I was watching RoTJ last night and started lolling at Ackbar... hehehe.

On topic: Congrats to Maki/Wes/Keith on the race results.. all of you guys are making me rethink my roadie ways, and threatening the health and happiness of my home with thoughts of another bike build that there isn't room for :P

Also -- on "dingle-speeds" -- are these done with a Surly dingle cog? Are these readily available anywhere in town? I was thinking about doing something with dingle rear/road double on front for a higher commuting gear (for flats) and lower one for windy days / lots of uphills.

If it's a 2 speed fixed than the Surly is the only option at the moment I think. They are fairly easy to get these days..we have em at C.S, Parliament. They are 3/32 only tho. For S.S. there are a wealth of options.

I enjoy a good long road ride or city cruise as much as anyone but a good off-road ride....devoid of cars...is far more relaxing and a ton more fun IMHO.

last time i was in urbane i saw they carried them ($50 i believe) - only come in a 2 tooth difference ie 17/19 and in 3/32" width.
