if a cop speeds through a yellow and nearly kills you, are you in the wrong??
he said "I dont want to give you a ticket, but promise me you will NEVER do something that dumb again" Four lanes, two cars left turning east and west, im herading west, southbound traffic nonexistant, northbound slowing to a crawl, when cop dodges into right lane and guns it in the yellow. TELL ME i was completely in the wrong. Shoulda waited for green, but COME ON. |

man am i out of shape - rode out to the beaches and back and did some hills and i feel like a noodle. was it windy? yes - must have been windy.

Yeah, it was windy out there today and, despite all that rain on the weekend, the city is still really dirty. White bikes looks cool but man, they are hard to keep clean!

Rob Roy mostly complete, needing to mount brake + lever, and get the steerer tube cut down to size and the headset cap on to get it finished:

stupid question but have you tried a proper pedal wrench? that extra bit of torque might do the trick.
nice looking build so far, i'd say. go brooks saddles! is that an old campy seatpost? |
Thanks! Stock IRO seatpost right now. I don't know if I can use a pedal wrench on the eggbeater - everything but the spindle spins, and the spindle is round - it's allen key or not, it seems. I did get a bunch of leverage on it, and due to my rushedness, I think I may've tightened the darn side up first, as the right/drive side pedal came out nice and easy. Doesn't help my 8mm wrench is now a bit effed up, so I should get a fresh good quality tool and try again.. not in any major rush.
I'm waiting to tape the bars, as I want the brake lever mounted/positioned, etc. first. |
what kind of egg beaters are you using? I've got wrench flats on the pair i've got...

Eggbeater SLs... there's a part of the spindle that looks to accept a regular pedal wrench (15mm?) but that also spins with the pedal - does it have a lock out or something maybe?

hm, the only part of the pedal that should spin is the section to the left of that black rubber seal (in the photo). the wrench should fit flush with the crank arm (ie right where the pedal threads into the crank).
EDIT: it looks like there aren't any wrench flats on the pedals after all. why do pedal designers do that? i had a pair of times like that and it drove me crazy getting the pedals off. have you got the chain on the bike right now? if you have, try putting the allen key in the pedal and stepping down on it with all your weight (remembering of course that the non crank side pedal unthreads clockwise). |
If they're really not coming off take the cranks off put it in a vise and torque it with a park T-handle 6mm. If you're going to do it on the bike, use the other crankarm as a lever.

I managed to get my LS eggbeater out after. I used my seatpost as a lever! I just slid it over the hex wrench to make it effectively longer... it didn't take much to get it to come loose then. Hooray for leverage/physics! :P

My commute to Humber College along the trail was really nice this morning. A goose tried to **** me, but other than that it was great. Took about 1:15:00 door-to-bike-racks.

Oh man- I wish I was about to commute to Humber along a trail instead of to UTSc along Kingston Road. Anybody got any alternate route suggestions that don't waste too much time?
