I never go through red lights or do any other similarly dangerous stuff (anymore) but they must be kidding if they expect cyclists to put two feet down at every stop sign. Ironically, they will probably nail me for it, damn.

Used this coupon today at my local marks work warehouse. Made the carhartt stuff a bit more affordable.
Spend $70 save $30. Was told that the coupon lasts till end of June.

my winter wheelset ... when i took it off, the locknut broke (pretty sure that's what it's called), it's a formula hub, i think the axle also needs to be replaced, i think it got scratched up and as a result maybe a little rusty, the threading is definitely not smooth and might be why the locknut broke

is it worth trying to fix? would a shop be able to do it? i don't know if the axles and locknuts are standardized. i imagine replacing the hub would be pretty expensive, since it's the hub + labor to take apart and rebuild the wheel

This part should cost you all of $1 and about 30 seconds to repair. Don't not do this.

exhibitx 04-15-08 09:10 PM

thanks

how about the axle? i think it's a little more involved to replace?

A little bit, but not really. The bearings will have to come off and be repressed since it's a shouldered axle. I'm not sure if those are readily available off the top of my head, maybe one of the other t.o fixed guys know. Unless you destroyed threads or bent the axle,it's probably something a little elbow grease and wd-40 should fix right up.

exhibitx: I've got a brand-spankin-new spare axle for a rear formula hub buried in a closet somewhere.. 160mm long with a 10mmx1 thread. All yours if you need it.. I swapped mine for a longer one to fit my conversion's wider spacing.

Whoa that is WAY over my head. But HILARIOUS! The humorously titled wikipedia page theorem states that "no wikipedia page with a silly-sounding title will remain unhacked for a period less than or equal to the sum of the square of the date on which it was posted". In other words I wonder how many people have hacked that page stating that the Hairy Ball Theorem was originally proposed by the Greek philosopher Testicles.

Now I have to go to work. No interweb for me.

Anyone here wear contacts? I just found out I have extra health care money to blow + have been missing all the perks of normal vision.. full peripheral vision, not having to wipe off rain, and using sunglasses when it's nice out. I'm thinking daily disposables for occasional use, but welcome your collective advice on cycling + contact lenses.
