Anything will feel like a step up in ride quality after spending so much time on Specialized Armadillos and Conti Gatorskins. :P

The Veloflex tires are pretty cheap on ProBikeKit, $34 shipped to Toronto. I would give them a shot but I just bought some Michelin Pro Race 2s and there was a deal on Michelin Lithions, $38 for two tires and two tubes, hard to pass up.

Not a fan of the open corsas, but more supple than a prorace eh? Perhaps I'll have to give em a try one day.
*Installing 135gm Record tire casing in studded tire......................Now* FYI..the PRORACE have substantially more mileage in em...and will take big cuts and abrasions better....but as Dan said...the quality isn't even close |
That's the reason I didn't like the open corsa's so much- the ride was great but big bucks and low miles irk me. I like the proraces 'cause they've got good grip and ride, but they go forever. I've got a set now with 4600 kms on them and still going strong. $40 sounds like a pretty good deal though.
I didn't weigh my liners... but they were noticeably lighter than the tuffy's! |

Where did you see that price? I'm seeing them for more 20.70 pounds which is more like $39.00 plus shipping.

Any of you guys want to meet up before the ice race, grab a bite and ride over? If you're competing I'm sure you'll want to be there early but other spectators?
P.S. I miss you guys! :( I haven't seen many of you IRL in quite some time. |
Yeah, i've been told the record tires are ****ing fast. Speed 4tw! I'm just really not diggin the tan sidewalls on the veloflexes. If they had the same paint scheme as the PR2's i'd be all over it.
Kergin: Stop milking martin for info and buy that sputnik already! :) ANd this is a supertype: http://www011.upp.so-net.ne.jp/KMAC/...519pink001.jpg Win!

This seems like a pretty good deal. If it were the Inbred 29'r, I would be all over it: http://toronto.craigslist.ca/tor/bik/573311073.html

Question for those who would know this, if a frame is designed for a suspension fork, will using a rigid fork cause any issues? |

You will need to obtain a suspension corrected rigid fork. You can't just slap on a regular fork if the bike was designed for suspension.
|
The suspension corrected fork that Rob mentions is longer to compensate for the geometry of the suspension fork you're replacing. Using an uncompensated fork will drop your headtube, reducing the trail and making the bike twitchier and perhaps more endo prone, depending on the travel in the fork you have now.
|
you can install a rigid fork but your headtube angle will be way too steep as a result of the shorter fork blades.
i'd say order a ready-made frame and be done with it. i think some even come with the sliding drops as a standard feature now too. |

[edit] And I seem to recall that the supertypes aren't too hella long, if you're going to spring for one, make sure it will fit your frame. [edit2] Yeah, 220mm. Which doesn't give you a lot of adjusting room. |
