P.S I just put 700c wheels on a 26" mtb frame, v-brake studs don't allow brakes to reach high enough and the center post for single/dual pivot brakes has a massive reach all the way down.

What are my options?

In the past I have known of enterprising machinists who have made a solution to this problem. If you are enterprising find an old canti brake brace, drill and tap holes in the appropriate location and thread in some canti studs. Mavic makes em but they are pretty pricey.

potentially old news, but I saw this in the NOW's cycling calendar: Toronto Bicycle Film Festival Art, music, film and interactive events celebrating the bicycle happen citywide to Aug 25. www.bicyclefilmfestival.com

I didn't know it was coming here this year. Whee.

Ahem, university doesn't go to St. Clair, it becomes queen's park crescent at queen's park and avenue at bloor.

/End of lecture.
//went to st. clair twice and then to eglinton
///slashies ftw!

ps. I picked up Indian food on the way home but forgot to order rice. I remembered the naan and veggie pakora's however. I would have expected them to point out such a silly mistake, but instead I'm now waiting on some basmati rice in my rice cooker. b'oh!

Not sure if this will be any good, but maybe a good place to pick up a frame for a fixie conversion? The toronto city auctions are usually a bust as the good frames get scoped out beforehand and snatched up quickly..

i know a guy who lives in oakville and has picked some great frames out of the trash on those "anything goes" garbage days. if this is any indication of the police auction, i'd say it's alright. i'd image the fact that there's more money in oakville and more people getting bored of the latest greatest thing would mean there's more frames up for grabs.

i'm done my exam crunch this week and i'll be looking to get hosed ASAP. let me know when you're free and clear.

cavit8 04-16-07 06:27 PM

Okay, I know it's hard to get opinions out of you folks, but regarding my Pinarello build, I'm debating going Campy or Shimano. I've since discovered that the delicious Xero-lites's I have are Shimano compatible hubs (anyone want a Veloce Campy sprocket set :D), but I'm thinking that mixing and matching (e.g. Campy cranks, shimano cassette group etc.) is a little unsightly. So, should I sell the Xero's and try for a 9 speed campy hub or just say shimaNO?

operator 04-16-07 06:31 PM

campy FTW

Offhoff 04-16-07 06:33 PM

Campy, rebuildable shifters are a huge advantage. Also its just sexier.

Op I saw a tallbike when I was riding up and down huron st. today that someone's at the chain?

I_bRAD 04-16-07 06:52 PM

Hey Cam, perhaps you could get a campy freehub?

cavit8 04-16-07 07:51 PM

A good thought Brad, I'll contact the distributor to see if the freehub shell can be replaced with a campy compatible one.

TRaffic Jammer 04-16-07 08:09 PM

For the Pinny....Campy without a doubt. You will not be disappointed.

jeremywhitehorn 04-16-07 08:44 PM

for an italian frame, campy is your only logical choice.

TRaffic Jammer 04-16-07 08:56 PM

i think it says so in the bible

cavit8 04-16-07 09:06 PM

Sigh, I figured as much. Good thing I just got a campy Chorus crank in the mail!
