Funny bikechain story: Some kid brought in a Krappy Tire bike.. it was a Rayleigh something or other, so I expected a bit better quality control than the supercycles that come in daily. He was complaining about his wheel being "off" -- it was about 1-2 inches out of true, so I figured he broke a spoke. When we checked tension, ALL of the spokes were completely untensioned. Unless a friend with a spoke wrench was playing a practical joke on him, that wheel was probably only laced and never tensioned.
Oh and keith -- I get sad whenever I see cavern's empty front window while on the 501 streetcar.. would you consider re-buying the shop to open in the spring if we all asked really nicely?

heheheh.. I too get depressed whenever I pass through the 'hood on my bike. It's like my subconscious can't let go and I keep having this nagging feeling of wanting to go pop in to say hi. Plus I've got nothin' to do on Fridays after work (and before Rock Practice) now. We'll have to rectify that with a regular park meetup spot when the weather improves.

It's a little odd seeing the empty shop I will admit, but I don't get sad b/c Keith was happy about being able to walk away from it and go onto other ventures. This was his choice. Had it bankrupted and been a foreclosure kind of action THAT would definitely have made me sad.

Wind was against us eastbound commuters, making a bit of difference today I guess. I was saddened it was the same base temp as yesterday, after thinking it'd be a tad warmer with the higher high of the day.

it is baaaaaaad out there right now, you can't see anything and the snow is falling so fast. All the main roads are hard packed snow, it's really slow going.

I further fail to understand the attraction to cross tires in this kind of weather. I am stuck riding the 29er for the time being and I have a pair of 32c cross tires on it. I was all over the place. I feel so much more confident on my 23c's. Didn't stop me from totally smoking all the traffic on Gerrard tho I wonder if the jackass who was honking at me at Broadview has reached Carlaw yet.

re: The streetcar -- you know, that long red thing that hauls crackheads, lushes, and people too wussy to ride on days like today (i.e. me). At least I got 45 minutes in on the trainer in the morning.

I hit a few chunky bits, but luckily most of the ice was off Dundas. It looks like they actually plowed some sections where the bike lane is, at least over the bridge. And it was bumper to bumper most of the way. I bailed off part way over the bridge and jogged down to the base as the cars were crunched into the bikelane.

Ah, if only I was willing to take one of my 23c bikes out in this crap! I usually go with "keep the momentum and hold on when it gets squirrelly" technique. 99% of the time it comes back before I have to put a foot down, although cars riding my ass tends to break my concentration!

The tard quotient on that sub forum is really, really high. I can't understand how those people go nuts over buying discounted and de-branded junk from anonymous people over the internets. For a while, there was some guy trying to sell de-branded wilier CF frames. For all you know, they could be QA rejects, and people are snapping them up! *shudder*

In other news I decided to scrap my old Veloflex tires to use as liners so I can go out and rip it in the rink. Sorry Dan. Thanks Brad
