I did some more work on my **** kicker bike yesterday. I found a 400mm seatpost, which puts the saddle in a much better position ie: my knees aren't hitting my chest anymore. It looks funny now, long silver seatpost with a Fizik Arione on it and then the rest of the bike still looks ****ty. Today I'm going to repack the headset, hubs and bb, change the cables/housing and install the fenders. My friend at work is giving me a pair of 1.25" slicks. I'll need to true/tension the wheels too they are pretty sprong-y.
For some reason I'm really excited about this bike! I just realized yesterday when it is done it totally is going to have a 90's bike messenger vibe. Especially with the long seatpost.
Keith do you guys have anymore of those Sugino cranks? Did you say they were 175s?
Do any of you guys have or know of a rigid 1" mountain bike fork for not too much coin?

Sweet thanks! The current fork is threaded and it measures 14cm from the top of the fork crown to the top of the headset topnut. I am not opposed to swapping headsets and using a threadless fork though...

Failing that, you're welcome to raid the C.T. stash. We've got a few bins full of old forks that you can pick through. If you end up thinking new, maybe one of those Kona Project 2 forks (talk to Keith).

Actually I need a new bar stem/bar end setup as well. The fork and the bars/stem suffered from many frontal impacts when I was a kid. They are all significantly bent.

They are both 1inch threaded. One will definitly work, the other most likely won't. I'll double check the one for you. Don't need either one so if you want yours OTH, you just need to come and get it.

Woo! Thanks. It'll be nice to eliminate that disconcerting speed wobble my rusty bent fork is giving me!

See above ^ And thanks! I am debating whether or not to change the derailler cables, grease everything and leave it or convert it to single speed. For now I think I'll go the cable route. The chainrings are riveted on so if the new chain skips then I'll have to replace the cranks. At which point I'll convert it single speed I guess. The steel cassette is rusty as well. Pretty crappy stuff. The hubs and brakes aren't bad though.

Stems I have a crappy ***** one, bars I have a 5-6 for mtbs, 3 risers, (one really short, one medium and one from my mtb that fits brakes shifter), 1 flat and one short mysfitcycles fu bar which is good for s/s, might be okay for shifters as well. If you want to go the s/s route I have a good 14t cog as well, spacers etc. Come by and take alook at what theres and grab what you need.
Oh and Keith what days are you working again (I have a memory like a sieve)?

Another nice day for a ride!
Came up with a fun loop that's not too long but has a couple of hills in it:

Some of the potholes in forest hill are pretty huge. I have no idea how they're gonna get the Ferrari to the detailers.

I liked the ones in Kensington Market that they just lobbed a few sandbags into for awhile instead of filling in. Gotta love those surprise gaping pits on the way to work in the morning.

I usually do a 360 bunnyhop over them.
