Did anyone notice if Noah, the guy who took over the painting at Bicycle Specialities, had a booth? I'd like to see his work up close.

And $75 for a CX frame? Nice.

CX frame was a joke! (it's Wes')

I didn't see Noah at the show, but I have seen HIS bike and it looked pretty nice. Not cheap though!

I am a sucker. Yeah, he quoted me about $325 to re-do my Ciocc, not a cheap price but I have heard his work is of a very high calibre. I spoke to Mayfair plating today and they can chome it for $200, which would be kinda neat.

Were there any Open Pro CD's (the dark grey anodized ones) on sale at the show? 32 hole?

Thanks Brad. I figured as much. Those were probably the same rims that were on sale there last year! They just brought 'em back.

Was Duke's there? I heard they were having a bbq. Seriously, that wasn't a tasteless joke!

How much? they had them at the show for 2fer90.
I held a pr2 and pr3 in my hands and they were noticeably lighter.

I got me some slick mtb tires just like TJ for L'il hauler

Don't know about that! Same place- Skiis and bikes selling them for cost. Last year I bought the only 32/36 combo and today Mark bought the only 32/32 combo.

No BBQ at Dukes! They were there though. I thought it was pretty ironic how their logo is flames.

Yeah, looked it up.
I see it's free shipping, but do you usually get hit with duties when it comes?

I've still got another fresh set of pro2's around, but good to know for the future.

Yeah i'm probably going to dump my pr2s on craigslist or something. Tires I usually order a day apart and get them seperately. Never gotten any sort of duties on them. But it's always possible to get $5 + tax on them like I have on larger orders.

They only have pr3's in black I think right now. I'm still waiting on the red ones.

i picked up a DA lockring at cycle solutions for 9 bucks a some michelin lithions for $30. i know that they had pro race's for $40 but i was buying three so i figured i'd rather spend $90 than $120. it's been an expensive week.

From fixed gear gallery:

"Lastly: Many of you know that my biggest cycling event of the year is the National 24Hr Challenge in the middle of June - I've done it 11 or 12 years now, and 2008 is gonna see me riding with a vengence to see if I can't get that elusive 350 miles.
BUT, we also want to get you some coverage of the World Cycle Messenger Championships from Toronto and they are the same weekend.... so we're looking for someone to act as a correspondent for us. Low pay, big badge, that sort of thing. Let me know."

I'm finished with using old rims. New rims like Open Pros or DT's are just plain better. Old Tubulars maybe, but newer clinchers are much better for the most part.

Not quite sure.. abdominal pain for the last few weeks + I decided to get it checked out.. things kind of spiralled from there. Things seems to be ok now, just doing some pain management as I heal. Does anyone that's had similar surgery know how long it'll be before I'm back on the bike?

Seems like ppl are having a wicked time at the bike show

I was off work for 4-5 weeks when I had mine. I would expect at least a month before riding is an option. Just MHO.

Yeah that would be nice. I actually have a line on a pair for pretty cheap (relatively speaking), but for now I'm going to have Malcolm work some magic on my old Suntour Sprint hubs. First I'm going to cut them from the Ambrosios, then Malcolm is going to to hammer out the bearing races (which are totally shot) and install cartridge bearings! Then those bad boys are going to be getting polished up and laced to some Open Pro CD's. I was really tempted to go for the Campys, but this is a more affordable and pretty awesome option I think.

i got a set of the lithions for $30 also (although one place had them in bright blue for $25) because they looked a bit more puncture resistant than the pros.

oh i think that was me! however, then i saw the orange winterbourne (that i remembered having wet dreams about after last year), and the orange frame at cycle therapy (once we found the booth... ok, and wes' bike too ), not to mention the True North display and the Randonneurs' set-up... but yeah, they were the first ones to catch my attention.

other purchases-of-note were that i (FINALLY) got some Pearl Izumi 3D Elite shorts in my size... almost the exact ones i've been trying to find at the past few shows, and some nice North Wave neoprene gloves for $30 that are my new favourite mid-range pair.

ahhh my bi-annual spending spree

now if only i could find an obnoxiously flourescent jersey...
