Is the tube cracked or is it just the binder? If the tube itself is still good I would suggest having the whole binder assembly removed by Malcolm and install a separate clamp and binder. If its down the slot of the tube it's gonna be trickier.

BTW my vote would be for the kona from sweet pete's. just my $0.02. The JTS comes with pretty nice, albeit SPD, pedals as well. I loved mine. Sorry I sold it. Okay...the 3 post thing is annoying. |

With shimano '09 coming out with eDA and mechanical and not a peep from Campy. They may already have lost, price increase or not.

Yeah, actually the ergonomics on the prototype DA brifters looks vastly improved. But, with that said, you can pry my Record brifters from my cold dead hands. :) The eDA stuff doesn't really interest me that much at this point. I'm bad enough with remembering to charge my phone, I wouldn't want to be out in the middle of nowhere and have my drivetrain run out of battery power.

Poor misguided fools. They could be half the price, covered in icing sugar, and come with a bag of free trade coffee, and they'd still be trying to catch up. Well, the SRAM stuff is pretty damn nice too. It definitely has a lot going for it. The one thing I really like that's now only on the Record/Chorus level shifters is the QS feature, which lets you shift through multiple cogs per button push. With Shimano you can go up 3 gears at a time, but you can only go down 1 at a time. With Campy you can totally dump the thing into an easy gear. Nice for 'cross in particular I find since you can hammer towards a steep hill and then dump the thing down a bunch of cogs in one go as you lose momentum.

I'm picturing the release of eDA wireless shifting causing garage doors to open and close, car alarms to arm/disarm across Suburbia as ppl shift while riding by. *snikker* Then we'll find out it causes the same tumors as cell phone usage.

As of late last week it was a write off, I doubt it is now based on how much ice melted yesterday alone on my street. Fuel party was pretty cool but I think I showed up after most of you guys left.

I think I might take a spin over there after work today and check things out. It's amazing how much snow/ice melted yesterday. There's a huge lawn spanning several houses behind my house and yesterday morning it was still about 75% covered in snow. When I got home there was nothing left except for a big pile (snow fort!) right in the middle.
If anyone wants to take a little spin through there avec moi, fire me a PM. |
i don't know about the don, but as of monday the humber still had a lot of ice on the trail. i forgot to post a couple photos i took. i actually turned back before old mill station! it's only fun riding in the pouring rain to a point... but it sure does help to get rid of the snow.

The Lakeshore / Martin Goodman trail is also icy in patches around the beaches area.
